This is a glorious item, each gourd has a slightly different pattern, the quality is very good and the little sipping straw is well made and filters the tea well. There is a bit of prep required before you can jump in and use this, its basically along the lines of proving or curing it.. leaving the leaves to stew and seasoning the gourd. Making tea with this method is significantly stronger than using a teabag brand and for my husband who was a reluctant convert he prefers the softer taste of the tea bags whereas I like the more heady, rough taste and of course more bitty original Mate. Its certainly a conversation piece!

I wanted one of these after my trip to South America a couple of years ago and I completely forgot about them until my mum and I were reminiscing the other week and I decided to see if I can get one from the UK and here it is! It tastes just as good! It’s good quality, robust and it doesn’t seem it will crack or go mouldy like others which I looked at before I opted for this one. It’s pretty too which is a bonus :) I keep it on my worktop as it looks so unique and authentic-I have had lots of questions asked and everyone then wants a taste once I tell them what it is so it’s become a very popular option in my house! I would like to mention there is just one included and not three, it does state this in the description but the photo suggests otherwise! The straw is so cool and brings back so many memories! Instructions are included for the newbies! I am very happy with my special buy and over the moon that I can keep a little bit of South America and energy with me now I’m home 😁

I was so pleased with the quality of this when it arrived, the gourd is beautifully decorated and the bombilla works great!After 3 days of light use the gourd has developed a leak on the bottom despite the stem being intact.I am so disappointed by this and have ended up just using a regular mug. I don’t think I would use a natural gourd again after this experience.

The product is about 3 inches high, beautifully decorated and unique as well as being a piece of art handcarved by the Seller. The Seller also includes usage and care instructions and a lovely letter about how they were inspired to create this product. The bombilla (straw) is sturdy, doesn't leak, and filters well. I would definitely buy again and would highly recommend this product! Fantastic to drink out of a real gourd

Hi all if you are new to yerba maté like I was this is the set for you. Or even the more experienced person. The gourd is 100 natural really nicely finished and nice to hold. Holds a nice amount of yerba making the experience last as long and you could want. I really like it and the bombilla (straw) is easy to take apart and clean.on my way to make another now

I’ve used mate teabags before and loose leaf but used a normal teapot, using this setup enhances the taste exponentially and adds to a much more authentic experience. It feels more like a ceremony to prepare it, the products are great quality and would highly recommend this product.

In Paraguay, a gourd like this will cost around £1 but, that said, this is a nicely finished natural gourd. The bombilla is extremely good quality.
