I can understand why you ask, they look as though they are meant to be fitted on a production line, not by domestic consumers. What I did was to fit them on the belt and then used a small soldering iron to melt the spike slightly and spread it into a mushroom shape to keep the two sides together, rather like a rivet. If you have no soldering iron, you could heat up a rod of metal in a gas flame and use that. Or a blob of superglue or a plastic glue should work.
