I really enjoyed reading this book, full of ideas and creativity

Sylvia Massy is a very impressive engineer/producer . She knows the physics and she knows and loves studio work inside out. The best quality she has which sets her apart is her constant search for new techniques and treatments. I love her experimental ideas. The book is great. It informs about her work and a load of famous and important other engineers and produces. I wish this book was available when I started working with music in studios. She also takes such care with the psychology of the sessions making sure the musicians are all made to feel safe and comfortable to express their work to the best possible performances. Wish there were more like her.

Forgot what you think you know Sylvia takes you on a journey of audio challenging you to think outside the box, I have this book on my studio coffee table all the time and it's great to pick up and grab some inspiration from!

Fun, informative and stimulating. You probably won't want to dangle your singer upside down. But there are some very neat motivational tricks in here, and it's very different from other `how-to' studio books.

Wonderful, quirky and inspiring book. Full of conceptual advice, stories, quotes and amazing little illustrations. It's not a technical manual or a how-to guide, but more of a inspiring journey through the concepts and possibilities.

Being a Studio owner for the last 25 years I can tell you it’s easy to slip into ruts. This book will pull you out of them and perhaps even twist your thinking. Well written. Lots of laughs. Interviews with many top producers and engineers. And her artwork is outstanding. If you work in a studio you’ll love this book. And if you don’t, you just might love it, too!

Excelente libro

Mir war bisher nicht bewußt, wie gut Sylvia Massy zeichnen kann. Neben den vielen, witzigen und detailverliebten Zeichnungen sind auch die Stories sehr unterhaltsam und kurzweilig. Das Buch beinhaltet viele kreative Ideen die mir eine Menge an Inspirationen geliefert hat. Bleibt aufgrund der "Nachhaltigkeit der Ideen" in meiner Sammlung - auch weil es einfach sehr schön und bunt ist. Meine Kinder hatten es erst für ein fröhliches Kinderbuch gehalten :-)Der Lebenslauf dieser außergewöhnlichen Frau ist schon sehr beeindruckend, und wenn man bedenkt in welcher Zeit sie ihre Jobs hatte, ist ihr Werdegang umso respektabler.

I've read 75% of the book. It features some exciting incidents and bizarre ideas from the recording sessions of great artists, mentions some good modern and vintage sound equipments, recording techniques and focuses on the artistic aspects of sound recording and mixing. I would recommend this book to the newcomers in the sound industry.
