After a summer away at camp, Phil returns home to find that his mother and twin sister aren't speaking to one another. Not willing to confront his family during the last days of the summer holidays, Phil escapes to hang out with his best friend, Kat, eating ice cream and playing dress- up. As the school year begins, a new student arrives - the handsome and mysterious Nicholas. Smitten, Phil watches his crush as he runs around the track after school, and is thrilled when Nicholas returns his feelings. However, when first love's volatility comes to light, Phil realizes he must deal with the problems of his past in order to deal with the issues of his present.

Now THIS was worth watching!
I wish there were more gay stories that felt as real as this - and with such believable characters! I wish I could thank the people that made this film happen. It is almost too rare to see a beautiful story about a gay character that doesn't end tragically or get lost in the clichés.I needed this.Somewhere, I hope younger gay people can watch this and enjoy this multi-layered story and loveable main character.

Wonderful story
Phil returns home after being away at camp all summer, something has caused his mother and sister to now speak with each other. He goes to escape the tension by seeing his friend Kat, he has known her forever. In time, they add the new guy who comes to school. The mysterious and very handsome Nicholas. The acting is superb and so is the story. I cannot get too much into it because I don't want to spoil it for you. sit back, watch and enjoy.

Wow, that was intense
I loved this film, the story, the acting, and the way it turned out. I am a huge fan of Louis Hoffman who was in the series Dark. Most of his films have very sad stories just like this one. It is worth watching this film.

Great Coming of Age Film From Germany
I bought this movie since it was gay-themed, and I was surprised to find that the focus of the story was more on Phil and his family. This bothered me a bit at first, but I ultimately found the main family plot the most interesting due to great performances by the actors playing Phil and his mother Glass. The main story is about 17-year-old Phil, his mother Glass, and his sister Dianne, and their struggles growing up together. There are many flashbacks shown throughout the film, intertwining with the present-day story. The subplot of Phil and his love interest Nicholas was a little enticing, but let's just say that it doesn't go the way that most people would like. I would compare their story to the one portrayed in 500 Days of Summer, where it's not really a love story per se. Nicholas is certainly very handsome, but his character definitely showed that looks aren't everything. In comparison, Phil is cute and sweet natured.I initially had mixed feelings about Center of My World after watching it, but thinking through it more, I like it a lot overall. The stories are enticing, and the cinematography is beautiful. Just know that this isn't a completely feel-good movie as the synopsis and trailer may lead you to believe. However, if you keep an open mind, I think that you will enjoy this coming of age film.

Center of the World
this was a great movie and the acting of the lead character, Phil, was top drawer! The one plot line- his infatuation with Nicholas begged a better clarification in Nicks relationship with Phil's BFF, Kat. There was no clear indication that they were seeing each other prior to Phil catching them having sex! In the confrontation, Nick tells him that he needs both of them in his life, yet we have no indication that they even met (Kat) prior to Phils 'discovery!' Also, near the end, Kat pleads with Phil to talk to her and that she will wait for him forever! Now that in itself begs the question just how close she and Nick really were? Since Nicholas would not commit to telling Phil that he loved him, in my mind Nicholas was a 'player' and used relationship as a means of gratifying his super ego without restricting his future conquests! The ending is kind of ambiguous in that Nicholas sends him that figurine (Snow bowl) he kept from Phil's encounter with him at the Supermarket, as a child. Does this gesture mean that when Phil returns from America, he and Nicholas (along with Kat)restart their relationship? (BTW: when will movie production figures give us plot lines where the major gay protagonists walk off in the Sunset holding hands and declaring their love for each other? This and other gay orientated films always end in tragedy, making being gay, a tragedy!

Celebrate your family and friends for accepting you for who you are. Live your truth.
This is one of my new favorite indies. I watched it twice. I loved the quirkiness of the film. It was heartfelt. It reminded me of the best Wes Anderson films. Finally a film with a real teen playing a teen. So many high school films cast 24 year-old actors and that bothers me. Louis Hoffman is such a beautiful man and such a good actor. I think he has been acting since he was an adolescent. His narration was perfect. His sexual discovery scenes were artfully filmed and very steamy. The boyfriend, Jannik Schümann as Nicholas is beautiful and you will be seduced by him, too. The supporting characters were well defined and the actors were great. I really enjoyed the story, with all of it's twists and turns. I won't include spoilers, in case you read reviews before viewing the film, like I do. I am adopted and did not know my biological father, so I understood the void he felt. And I loved that Phil realized, in the end, that his family and friends were the Center of his world. I watched it initially because I have been enjoying watching Louis Hoffman's brilliant performance in "Dark." I recommend this film unconditionally. NOTE: Full frontal nudity and explicit sex scenes.

Center of My World
It was a very enjoyable movie, and had a great storyline. I do have to say though as we were getting to the finish, I found myself getting annoyed with the lead character Paul. His aunt Pascal gave him the best advice through the movie, of you want answers, ask the question! That was my issue with him, he was so upset about being in the dark, be it in his relationship with Nicholas to about what happened at his house, he never asked until it was finally going to implode, which is why I gave it four stars, while I enjoyed the movie, I found myself wanting to ring his neck by the end because all was in chaos and he could fix it or at least help, but he just had to ask. Oh and side note, if I was him, I sure would’ve had it out with my bff about that nonsense that happened.

Slow
Movie was ok, but I found it slow. One of the male leads is ridiculously beautiful so that helped me get through the movie.

Film decevant
