Purchased this product as an alternative treatment option for our guinea pig's chronically dry skin on the paw pads. I'm familiar with Zymox products for dogs, so figured why not give the small animal/exotics formula a try. Application went well (sprayed solution on to a cotton make-up round and applied to all four paws and held our GP to make sure solution dried and it wasn't groomed off/ingested). Well, about 2hrs later our GP's skin looks less flakey BUT it's like our GP is on uppers (running around like crazy, agitated, hyper, restless)! We will not be doing the recommended 2nd daily dose today. Also, will not consider applying another dose until we see our GP return to his normal behaviors... to truly determine if these behavioral changes are indeed an adverse effect or not. Will update review once we know more. *UPDATE: We decided not to try this spray again once our GP's behavior resolved to normal 24hrs after spray was used. Just not worth compromising his health. We cannot recommend this product due to observed side effects* *2nd UPDATE: Opted to try 1 more time... only applied to 1 paw, figuring it's the most minimal exposure we could test. Pleasantly surprised, things went ok. We did this for 3 days, applying 1x/day for 3 days, some improvement noted considering we're not applying 2x/day. We're being conservative given our GP's prior reaction*
