Simple and Effective
I was having problems with too much water entering our rain barrel and just overwhelming it along with the overfill drain on it. I wanted something to divert some of the water from the gutter at a slower rate. This is exactly what I needed and it adjusts so you can let more or less water through it. Install is simple just two cuts on your downspout and it slides together, no screws needed and it does not leak. One or two good rains and it filled up nicely. It does NOT come with a drain hose so I took this diverter to the hardware store and matched a hose for it. I think it was 1 & 1/2in inner diameter and I went with clear so I can see the water going though it. Remember to keep the red cap for off-season, you just slide the hose off and cap it to “turn it off”.

cool idea
I grabbed this as an impulse buy and it is a neat little unit. Not real easy to install but it's really straight forward. The adjustable flow is so nice and allows you to 'turn it off' when you don't want / need water.

Your service is WONDERFUL!
I like the top half of the item but the bottom half does not fit over the existing down spout pipe as it is the exact same size. So I must go to the store and buy a sleeve that accommodates marrying the 2 together.

Non-standard hose connector
In one of the answers it is stated that a "1-1/4 in. female NPT x 3/4 in. male GHT" adapter would work to connect this to a standard soaker hose but in reality the answer is NO. The hose connector is 1-1/4" but it's not something which anything can be screwed on. The mentioned 1-1/4 NPT adapter is anyway 1.5"+ for 1-1/4" threads so not an option. I also checked with 3 different Home Depot reps and they couldn't find anything in the entire store to connect it to a standard garden/soaker hose. The concept of diverting some of the rainwater by sending it to channels on the side is cool but they should have provided a standard hose connector.

Nice rain diverter
Was easy to install, just cut out a 6 inch section of downspout and slip these in. Had to buy a hose 1 1/4 id and everything works well. Matches the downspout hardly noticeable.

Did not divert water.
When I went to install it, I looked at the mechanism that was supposedly going to divert the water. Wondered how it could possibly do that. Installed it and when it rained went out to check and see if it was working or needed the diverter adjusted. Cranked the knob all the way one direction....no change with water flow. Cranked it the other way, still no change. Cranked it again, thought I would turn just a little further and the part broke.Would like my money back but think it has been too long. In California, you never know when it might rain....guess it was too long to be within the return deadline.

Works great
Instructions we're clear and easy to understand we had it hooked up in no time. I love that you can retract it when your barrel is full that's a nice addition.

Adjustable diverter
Installed a single barrel. The barrel filled with 0.2 inches of rain, diverter was set to maximum diversion.
