For every kilogram of upcycled fabric used, 20,000 kilograms of water are saved. Incredible, but true. In denim production, like in most clothing production, there is an excess of waste. In this case, after jeans are made, denim scraps and offcuts are usually discarded and thrown into the landfill. In The New Denim Project's manufacturing facility, these scraps are gathered and ground back into fibers. After the fibers have been mused down, these fibres are respun into yarn. And with this yarn, our beautiful products are made :) Cotton is one the world's thirstyest crop, and usually requires large quantities of pesticides and chemicals to grow.
