GREAT LASER SOLID BUILD AND PERFORMANCE
After unboxing the assembly went very easy with the frame having exceptional machining and fit. I use Lightburn with this laser and with my Commarker B3 30 watt fiber laser as it provides a very good user interface with capabilities to adjust for any burning requirement. As this laser does not have a "built-in" laser pointer, it was really not an issue as most all other lasers that have the built in laser pointer, do not have the ability to dial down the crosshair brightness that overpowers the burning location starting point. So, I built an adjustable laser crosshair that is powered by a 5 volt USB power block, withe the + 5 volts wired through a 500 ohm -1 watt pot that perfectly provides an adjustable crosshair brightness from just visible to full brightness which is way too bright. Since the power consumption of the laser crosshair module is only ~ 20 mA, the 1 watt pot is more than adequate to regulate the voltage. (Higher power LED's need to have their brightness regulated by using a PWM-Pulse Width Modulated method, but, for only 20Ma, it is not required in this case). The pictured "Laser Crosshair Brightness" control box was really my first burn project which is now used for any/every burn project to permit me to perfectly set the burn start point very easily. Even added a power switch to make it more "deluxe". When wiring the crosshair, it is somewhat mandatory to connect the chassis wiring to the crosshair module using a small inline connector when you may need to remove to change heads or other reason. The pictures tell all. I also use the AtomStackmaker rotary that works great and to keep from playing the "connect/disconnect game" when using the rotary, I also fabricated a switch box that keep me from having to jocky the "Y" axis stepper motor connector. Now I can just throw a switch and my rotary is good to go. An ADVANCED modification I added was the addition of the LONGER Laser Engraver Ray5 5W / 10W Laser Module Lifting Bracket Kit - ASIN B0CTJMC642 ... AN IMPORTANT NOTE -- The lifting kit "side rails" need to be remounted so the fixed weight of the head presses down ON the lower stop pins and not with the set screws only providing tension. The rudimentary picture illustrates that the side rails need to rest on the screwed in set screw at the bottom. This keeps the side rails from slipping down from the weight of the head - IT WILL.... This is an advanced mod that also requires the "Y" axis limit switch to be moved "away" from the front rail of the unit by about 20 mm or so to provide the clearance necessary as the adjustable Z bracket DOES REQUIRE more room to keep the laser head from contacting the laser front rail. See pix. OVERALL a great laser that performs very well....

Should've got one sooner
I build custom RC airplanes and wide variety of other crafts such as steampunk boxes, signs, and more.I have few other open frame laser engraver / cutters, and this is my new favorite. It's well made, powerful, and fast. Assembly is easy if you follow the instructions - video tutorials which are included on a thumb drive. If this is your first laser, be patient and follow the directions, it will be a good learning experience.I've tested this with a variety of materials utilizing Lightburn and LaserGRBL and the Longer B1 40w surpassed all my other machines. I did have an issue early on where my machine would randomly stop causing a split-second panic. I reached out to Longer who are very helpful, knowledgeable, and quick to respond. They helped me troubleshoot the problem and narrowed it down to a firmware update which was simple to install. Since then my Longer B1 has been getting quite a workout and I love it. I will be adding the extension in the near future.

The best damm money u will ever spend
I did a ton of research on which laser to buy. My research did not prepare me for how awesome there products or there customer service is. I've had the laser engraver and the 3d printer for close to a year now. I had a issue with the laser engraver. I contacted the company hoping that they would help me. Before I even completed stating my problem, they immediately shipped the part I needed. And I mean fast it got here within a few days. You cannot go wrong with these people, what a pleasure it is to see this.

used laser head sold as new !
I purchased new Longer Laser B1 48W machine. Assembly was easy, and mechanically the parts fit well. While installing the laser head that came with the machine - I saw that it has been previously used (see the picture). Unfortunately most of the machine value is in the laser head. The safety glasses that came with the package are a joke, so I cannot power it up yet. I will test the machine after I receive the Philips certified ones I just ordered, and will update my review. If it cuts close to manufacturer's specifications - I will consider keeping it. Otherwise it goes back.

Bad quality control 2 diffrent longer lasers a ray 5 and a B1
I'd give them 5 stars but this is the second time I've took off of work to put one of these together just to find out it dosent work the first one was a ray 5 that the laser didn't work on sent it back got one that worked decided to go ahead and get the b1 40w and the y axis dosent work the SD card was gone and there were tool marks on the machine where it been put together before if you get one that works there great and the customer support is good but it seems like they'll just ship you a return if you buy one and they don't have a new one on hand. You've ruined 4 whole days of vacation time for me thanks alot guy
