Watchman W204D EDC Fixed Blade Knife 14C28N Blade Steel Micarta Handle with Kydex Sheaths for Outdoor Activities Camping

So first of all, I want to say that I personally own about 200 knives. They all have intended uses, but hunting knives are really unique, because you generally want to meet a group of very specific criteria. Second, I want to also say that I am a tough guy to please. So if I give something 5 stars, that is saying something.Below are what I personally believe are the most important criteria for a dedicated hunting knife:#1. You need a smaller fixed blade design. - nobody wants a to try to manipulate a larger blade while doing specific cuts with your hand inside an animal. And folding knives get too gunked up with fat and hair and guts.#2. You need a stainless steel - hunting is an activity that often takes place in wet weather conditions. Whether it be snow or rain or just slogging through creek bottoms, your knife will get wet. Having a stainless blade just makes sense and means there’s one less thing you have to worry about when taking care of your gear.#3. You need a tough steel with thin geometry - tough steel (like AEB-L or 14c28n) can stand up to very thin grinds without breaking, chipping, or rolling. Thin geometry is necessary because hunting knives need to be good slicers. You need to be able to slice through hide, muscle, and tendon with minimal force. These steels also have very fine carbides and thus are very easy to get ridiculously sharp, and you really only need a small ceramic rod to maintain their edge.#4. You need a cheap knife - hunting knifes get lost in the woods sometimes. You don’t want to be out $200-$300 for a fancy Benchmade because you dropped it in a pile of leaves or in a muddy creek on your way to your hunting spot. Cheap knives afford you the ability to keep a backup blade in your pack just in case.I used to carry an old Schrade sharpfinger, and I still think that is a phenomenal hunting knife. But this is as good or better. My only ding is that the sheath is made of very thin kydex which just doesn’t have enough retention. I generally make my own kydex sheaths anyway, so that doesn’t bother me too much. Since I bought this I have ordered a couple more Watchman knives and have been very pleased with the quality and value.

The sheath is pretty thin and did not retain the knife well. A little application of heat with a heat gun nd squeezing with pliers mostly cured that.

Like others have said, it is an Esee Izula II style knife but better in 14c28n steel for corrosion resistance. It comes very sharp, but I put a finer edge on mine. My kydex sheath fit like a glove and it is a very good bargain for it's price. The steel in the handle area is rounded so there is no sharp edges. It's blade angle is excellent for a skinning knife. The cutting edge on the blade measures at 2" 3/4 so it is nice for hunting and camping use in aspects. I rate mine a 10/10 for fit finish, sharpness, sheath fit, feel in the hand. This is a great buy.

Bought this at the recommendation of a friend for a cheap EDC that would not break the bank if lost or stolen. I do like it and the sheath is suitable for its EDC roll, and it was shaving sharp right out of the box. However I did notice that after only a few days of belt carry and no real use yet, that the handle scales have both become loose. It may be just a matter of a drop of Loctite and adding a little torque to the screws, but I have not had the chance to look into it yet. I will update this review if that does not fix the problem.

Cool knife but it does not match the photo and is priced higher then the knife that looks like this but has a green handle. Going to contact seller. Haven't tested out yet but it is sharp.

Great quality knife for a fraction of the cost of others. The fit and finish on this are very good. The edge is sharp, as it should be. Great size for EDC. It will clip onto your belt with the included attachment or you can get an aftermarket clip for pocket carry. The micarta handle scales offer a nice grippy texture to give you a great hold even when wet.

I was looking for a less expensive fixed blade knife and this one fits the need perfectly. Good sheath and comes very sharp. I haven’t had to sharpen it yet, but not anticipating any issues
