Great looking and well made.
Yes the opening is very small. I already knew it would be, but I get to have a bright red rocket in my kitchen! :)Sometimes I even have to lift off the top of the bin if I’m scraping something off a plate, but it’s well worth it to own something as cool as this. If I had wanted a bigger opening instead of a rocket shape I could’ve ordered a different style. There are plenty. But this is my favourite. Sturdy and will probably last a lifetime unlike other lesser bins. Looks great. Very happy! (No I don’t know why they used plastic on the handles instead of stainless steel either. But doesn’t take away from the look)

Not everyone will want one of these in their kitchen ... but they should
Solid construction, style icon bin. Not everyone will want one of these in their kitchen ... but they should. Well packed, perfect condition on arrival. Prompt and fast delivery. Powder coat finish that is super resilient, heavyweight, separate internal galvanised canister, high quality chrome flap with a giant rubber stop that makes a lovely thunk as it closes. The only disappointment is the chrome band around the base, it looks fine but feels a bit cheap compared to the rest of the bin.

Pricey but cool
Solid bin, really sturdy and makes using the bin fun. There's no smell from it either. It would look at home in the Fallout game series.

Thoroughly shoddy
When I bought this just over 2 years ago, I imagined this great-looking, heavy-duty metal bin would last a lifetime (like my Dualit toaster). Not at all.The inside has rusted so much that one end of the hinge for the lid has broken away, so now doesn't close any more. This is a shocking result for something costing almost £200 and which we have lovingly cleaned and polished because of its striking design.Given the price, we will be trying to return it for a refund.UPDATEThey have offered to replace the lid, provided we send the old one back to Germany. This would cost £35 and as there is no tracking available, we would lose all our money if it didn’t arrive. Not worth it.

Best bin ever
I own 4 of these bins- home/ office large dogs cant tip them, everyone always comments on them,35 l capacity - superbly constructed nearly impissible to dent and will last a lifetime.only negative aperture could be slughtly bigger for putting cereal boxes in....but otherwise...just brilliant

So good we bought another one!
Love this bin so much we bought a second one for our recycling. They are large, so won't suit small spaces or kitchens but look amazing side by side.A real talking point for every one who sees them.

Very pleased, but some design compromises make it a 4/5
I've been looking for a steel bin for a while now to replace my plastic Simple Human. A lot of the bins that claim to be stainless steel actually have plastic interiors and as we all likely know, plastic has a habit of hanging onto smells you'd rather not have lingering. The Wesco Spaceboy XL is made entirely of steel, even the internal bucket is made of steel so smells aren't a concern!Assembly of the bin is straight-forward enough, you've got the base, the lid and an internal bucket. Wesco include a couple of elastic bands for securing your bin bags in the bucket, and there are magnets in the base that make a solid "thunk!" sound when you place the bucket into the base. All the basics are here. The lid can be removed with minimal fuss, and the internal bucket can be removed using the handle, if I have one complaint about practicality, the flap is a bit on the small side, but I had accepted this would be the case before purchasing so no biggie. For the most part build quality is solid. I do have some concerns though, accounting for 0.5 of the 1 star I've knocked off (I'll get to the other 0.5 in a sec!) The handles on the side of the bin are made of very cheap feeling plastic, it's a strange compromise for Wesco to have made. My only other build quality gripe is the ring / strip that separates the lower section of the base from the main body of the bin is also a bit of a missed opportunity for a nice finishing touch. It doesn't fit around the base quite as snugly as I'd like, there's a noticeable gap. It's a small gripe, but when you're spending ~£160 the details are important.I knocked another 0.5 off because there is a bit of a gold tint going on with the powder coat. In the right light the bin looks silver as it should do, but if you're planning to put this bin in a more dimly lit area, expect to see a hint of gold to it.Overall I'm really pleased with my purchase of this bin. It's met my expectations for the most part, and I'm sure it'll make for an excellent conversation piece which is more than most could say about their bin!
