Risked (6) (The Missing)

Best One Yet!
In risked, the sixth installment of the Found series, Jonah, Katherine, Chip, Daniella, and Gavin are forced into the past with a faulty elucidator, no contact with JB and Gary and Hodge from book one on their trail. When they finally catch their breath after running from the bullets, they compare their knowledge of the Romanov dynasty-and realize they know two different versions and have no idea which version to try to stick to.Holy Cow. I waited toooo long for this, but it was worth it (and the break was broken up by a short story that actually explains a lot) Haddix, instead of sticking to her formula from past books-Jonah, Katherine, missing child of the book try to fix history, apparently, she just decided to not only throw in teo missing children for the entirety of the book, but she brought back Chip, who has been sick/arrow happy since Sent. Every single character brought a lot to the novel, although I would have liked to see a bit more of Dani. Chip stole quite a few scenes too, he wasn't baggage. He had some of his king-skills working for him as he negotiated with people and was capable of violence that Jonah has been unwilling to commit. Katherine is really growing up to...gone is the little girl we met in book one. Katherine is an excellent example of a strong female lead, wont take crap from the boys, strong and willing to make decisions on her own, and she and Jonah have a pretty healthy relationship. The plot was good and had Haddix-like twists, although the ending was a bit predictable, she added a few things that made my eyes pop out of my head: we see a bit of the future this time round!!! Plus, the stakes seem to be getting higher...three of the leads were seriously injured.Overall, JB had amazing scenes, although I wish there was more of a follow up from the ending of the last book. Personally, as far as plot goes, she's had twisteir novels, but as far as scenes go, scenes we have wanted for a really long time..WE GET THEM!! HZZAH!!All we have left to find out is Jonah's identity. Althlough it's still unknown, I have a few guesses...

The Time Travel Continues!
Haddix is AMAZING! I absolutely adore her! This book definitely met expectations! I am kind of bummed that they discontinued the original cover art, but that's a personal pet peeve of mine. The story was stunning, as always, and the characters brilliant. I'm a huge fan of the Anastasia story and the Russian Revolution, etc. It's always fascinated me, so this book was right up my alley! I did wish that there was a little more about Daniella and the phone call from the first book and I did think for a chapter or two it felt a little slow (which is SO abnormal for Haddix, especially in this series). I was excited to have Chip in the tale again! I loved the relationship between Jonah and Katherine. It really shone through how much they love each other and how much they've grown from the very beginning of this tale. And, of course, I just love JB. =-) So, excellent book!!! I highly recommend the series. I very highly recommend the author!!

Gavin and Daniella discover who they were.
Risked is the latest of the Missing Series. If you have read one then you have an idea of what the story is about. It continues with several main characters, Jonah, Katherine, JB, Chip and others, plus she adds new characters from history in each volume. This book has Gavin and Daniella. It's science fiction, geared to young children, middle school age children and young adults. I found my granddaughters reading and enjoying them. I think young boys would enjoy reading her books also. You don't have dinosaurs or mythical creatures, but you do have lots of action and interaction with young people. In my opinion there is nothing that would be unsuitable for any age child. The book is based loosely on historical facts, and where Haddix deviates is usually where facts are not certain. She includes documented historical info at the beginning and end and sources you may go to.

Great series for young teens!
Excellent condition! My son really enjoys these books. We got lucky and found nearly the entire set at Goodwill, but needed this one and one other. I'm happy to have found a good deal as he reads so quickly we go through at least 100 books a year.

Another Great Installmenf! Can't wait for the next!
Another amazing book in the Missing Series. It picked up almost right where it left off. This entire book just breezed by. It was funny, exciting, and just extremely good. I wish it had lasted longer! While we still don't know who Jonah is (I talked with the author, we find out in the next book!!!), I still loved every page and cannot wait until the next book, Revealed, comes out!

Interesting Idea but Fails to Deliver
Predictable. Interesting premise but author does not have the skills to make this a truly original work.
