Genesis in their (Second) Prime
I've long avoided bootleg recordings, ever since my one and only brush with the Genesis "Bedside Yellow Foam" vinyl, where the sound was so thin that it wasn't worth keeping. This, therefore, was a bold step for me and I'm so glad I took it. Capturing the band on their first post-Gabriel tour, this finds the lads with everything to prove, attacking their material with a real energy and passion and indulging in linking chat and joshing, obviously trying to fill the Gabriel gap. It's refreshing and amusing to hear them in such good spirits. The addition of the legendary Bill Bruford on drums lifts this even higher, his adroit deftness really lending something special to the renditions of a wonderful repertoire. Nothing from "Nursery Cryme", alas, but you get a rare outing for "White Mountain" and generous helpings of "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway", "Selling England by the Pound" and -- natch -- "A Trick of the Tail". The sound quality on this is surprisingly superb and it's such a relief to hear a live album from the post-Gabriel time when Hackett's guitars aren't buried deep in the mix to the point of inaudiblity. Here is a welcome reminder of what a fierce and innovative guitarist he could be, how essential he was to their sound, and for this reason (and the presence of Bruford) that I'd even go so far as to say I prefer this to the official "Seconds Out".

Great piece of Genesis live
For an unofficial recording this is very good quality and contains the complete concert. The sound quality is very good, worth making into an official Genesis release. Captures Genesis in their hay day. Great performance, great recording. Highly recommend.

Stonking set
Amazing set from Genesis - very nearly their peak. I always thought that A Trick of the Tail was the band's best complete studio album - the Lamb being the best Gabriel work but slightly too long to be perfect! Here we get the band playing PG and PC led material with Phil on lead vocals for the first time and Bill Bruford on the drums (not Chester as on the picture as many other reviewers have said). The set list is incredible, even delving back to Trespass with White Mountain. Wish I'd seen them perform on this tour.Decent quality recording too.

The Bill finally arrives
Forget the cover, of course Chester wasn’t playing in 76. At last we have a full Genesis in concert with Bill Bruford on drums. After an initial wishy washy intro the music settles down and delivers a warm, punchy sound. Apart from some slight fluffs the band delivers a strong performance. This is a must buy. Highlights? You get to hear White Mountain, Steve calling someone an idiot, the full version of Dance on a Volcano and of course Supper’s Ready.Man I have loved most of the Genesis “bootleg” cd’s released recently (Berlin was a slight disappointment). They chart Genesis musical history and development far better than most of their live albums in my humble opinion. For example, although In the Cage isn’t played as part of the “Lamb Stew” here, I’ve enjoyed hearing how this track evolved and expanded over the following years from listening to the subsequent periods bootleg cds.I have no hesitation in recommending this cd - 5*

Recommended!
It's a shame the front cover photo couldn't have been correct for the period of time, but that aside everything else is nicely packaged and this truly is an excellent recording from the 1976 Trick Of The Tail Tour.Superb sound quality of a great band and a must for any collectors out there!

Well worth the price
It is a shame that the producers of this cd lacked the historical knowledge of Genesis and put an incorrect photo on its cover of the band from their 1977 tour with Chester Thompson on drums and not from their 1976 tour with Bill Bruford on drums, however look past this because this is a great double cd. The sound quality is very good- not perfect but very good for a release of this type. I may be wrong but I would say that this is a soundboard recording rather than a radio broadcast. I am not sure if this was ever a radio broadcast. For around £12 this is well worth the price for the serious Genesis collector.

Good Sound; But …
The material on this CD has been released, in one form or another, several times. It is what I call a legal, unofficial bootleg and the sound is very good. It is also the full concert and that is the reason I purchased it. It is well worth it too and a great concert spanning two CD’s (117 minutes). Recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon, London, England, on 10th June 1976 and the first tour with Phil Collins on vocals after Peter Gabriel left the band. Just a shame that the front cover image shows Chester Thompson on drums and also on the CD artwork. No disrespect to Chester, who is an excellent drummer; but Bill Bruford was actually the drummer for this tour😊!

Pretty good live recording
Really enjoyed this recording. Not as well recorded as seconds out but acceptable sound quality despite being sketchy in places. Don't know if Mike Rutherford had trouble with his bass pedals but they're either overly loud or too quiet. Bill Bruford had clearly been practicing his rudiments with some skilful patterns and fills around the kit, almost delicate compared to Chester Thompson on subsequent live material. Recommended.

concerto giusto, foto di fronte sbagliata .
COME C'E SCRITTO ANCHE NELL FOGLIETTO INTERNO ,PER QUESTA SERIE DI CONCERTI HANNO USATO COME BATTERISTA ,BILL BRUFORD . SULLA FOTO DI FRONTE ,INDIETTRO ,AL POSTO DI BATTERISTA C'E SEDUTTO CHESTER THOMPSON !!!SONO ASSOLUTAMENTE SICURO CHE QUESTA FOTO E' DAL CONCERTO DEL 1980 AL LONDON LYCEUM .PER IL RESTO ,HO GIA AQUISTATO ED ASCOLTATO LA PRECEDENTE EDIZIONE DI KING BISCUIT FLOWER HOUR ,E QUANDO HO VISTO QUESTA COMPLETTA EDIZIONE L'HO ORDINATA SUBITO E NON VEDO L' ORA DI ASCOLTARE IL CD.

Bon directe!

Live spettacolare
