You cannot use it in sleep because it is uncomfortable

The outer, round part rests on the entrance to the ear canal and after a while when sleeping on my side, it starts to hurt from the pressure. May if you're a back or front sleeper, they might be good, but not for a side sleeper. Not for me anyway.
