Poor packaging can make - or break - an item...
At 8.5cm x 8.5cm, this Cello mosaic tea-light holder is a decent size. It arrives unboxed - more of this later. The iridescent shards of glass that make up the external mosaic pattern have been applied onto a thin layer of cement-like pale grey clay.The idea is that, with a tea-light placed inside, the holder emits a warm glow and the flickering flame complements the iridescent shards. However, the one I received was wrapped only in bubble-wrap not thick enough to protect it in transit. I feel this delicate item ought to be encased in a sturdy box along with some bubble-wrap to ensure it doesn't arrive......yes, you guessed it - broken. A section around 2" across to the upper rim extending down about an inch or so was unfortunately crazed inside too - with broken glass still just about being held together by means of the holder's external construction. The glass of the holder is thin, making this an especially delicate item and one that might prove hazardous as the broken shards from this are very sharp.On occasion, the way a product is packaged - not by Amazon so much as by the supplier, I've found - can make or break an item. Which was very literally the case with this tea-light holder. A great pity, as fully intact it could have been rather attractive.
