Californication - Season 2 [DVD]

Hilarious and funniest season in the series by far!

'Dyspeptic Spirit' wrote a review here, giving this second series two stars. If the series had continued as poorly as its first few episodes then I would have agreed and maybe gone for one star. With Karen and Hank coming back together the story seemed to lose its structure and purpose and I agree it became crass and not at all funny. But, for me, it perked up once the two had bounced of one another again. Some of the moments in the middle and latter episodes are better than anything through series one, and there's one episode that's just beautiful and brought the sun out for me. I didn't write a review for series one, because it had all been said by other reviewers. If series two were just the last 7/8 epsiodes then I would have given it five stars, but the first few epsiodes hold it back and so I've gone for four.

As with the fisrt season Californication series 2 is littered with short bursts of brilliance. The script is written well and the characters have come to show their true colours. The dialogue in my opinion is the most important aspect of this tv drama and is also what differentiates Californication from your everyday series. It's fast, witty, humorous and will most likely be one of those that will leave you craving another dose. I won't say this show is for everyone, but i will say that it is for anyone who wants to have a breathe of fresh air, or even a short break from their life to enjoy something different. One criticism is all i could conjure up with season 2. And that's the fact that the show tended to drag on a little towards the end. It was if the director was desperate to get to the end and had to fill in the blanks with any half decent work that was available.

I ploughed through season 1 in 1 day and as soon as I recieved season 2 I was eagar to resume my marathon, however whilst watching the first episode I felt that some of the chemistry had gone and I wasn't sure the good stuff was going to continue.How wrong was I, although there is a big shift in the story line this season, give it a chance to get going , I think by the end I actually enjoyed his season even more than the first!

Californication - The First Season [2007] [DVD ]Second season did not live up to the first in my opinion.However, I still enjoyed it, but just didn't laugh as much, looking forward to season 3, lets hope they recapture some of what was lost.

Hank is back and as bad/good as ever. Great performances from the whole cast with witty fast paced dialogue. If you loved the first series then what are you waiting for you know you want to. Some great new characters adding even more dark humour to this great series.

Not quite the same as the first series, but still totally brilliant. A must watch, must see series for anyone between 30 and 70!Classically sharp script with a hard edge. One of the best series out of USA in years...
