Hampstead Tea Organic Fairtrade Darjeeling Loose Leaf Tea (100g)

There's a very particular kind of Darjeeling taste that I like and, because it's what I drink every day, I wanted to to have a fair trade, organic or biodynamic tea. I'd ordered teas from several other suppliers but hadn't hit on the flavour I was looking for. When I discovered the Makaibari plantation onlineI thought my search for the right tea was over but to order small amounts for personal use wasn't economical with shipping. Delighted to find that same tea, a delicate, muscat-y, bright and fragrant brew, sold by the Hampstead Tea Company - will certainly become a regular customer. ,

Lovely tea, nice big leaves, full and founded flavour. You can make it less flavourful or stronger (I like subtler with no milk or sugar). Heat it up if it has gone cold - very little 'stewing' flavour. Above all no bitterness or shallowness of flavour experienced with tea bags or tea which looks like 'floor sweepings' as my granny would have said. And Fair Trade is obviously better, and really also a good price. (I cannot buy anything like this quality locally in my area of the South West)

It's not easy to find good quality fairtrade Darjeeling. This is pretty good though. Doesn't quite have that beautiful delicate elderflowery flavour that the best Darjeelings have, but the price is reasonable - I would buy it again.
