Amazing plots that are captivating and beautifully written
Book Name:The Light of Love and Other StoriesAuthor: Ashutosh AgnihotriGenre: Collection of storiesAshutosh Agnihotri has written a beautiful collection of ten stories that leave an impact on the reader for a long time. All the stories are fully immersive and leave it to the reader to make a point at the end of the story. I totally get the point the author wants to make. These tales come from the varied experiences the author had in his journey through life, taking out all the experiences from his intricate observations.Writing short stories is not an easy job given the limited space it offers to sketch the characters well. The characters in these stories are very interesting and create a desire in the readers to know more about them.Contents:"The Envelope of Darkness": The story revolves around the predicaments the protagonist faces during the handling of law and order situations in an ethnically violent area. It makes the reader amused and leaves them with questions about how Badan changed his mind by hinting that "we are all ordinary human beings.Being ordinary and human makes us so vulnerable and predictable."In "The Artist," the character Pallav inspires us much with his zest for life despite battling a rare condition. He offers us the chance to appreciate what life has given us.The author introduces us to Dr. Narayan, an 82-year-old energetic man who emigrated to England, in "Autumn Leaves". We do learn more about the difficulties faced by highly educated immigrants as well as their immigration experiences, particularly across generations. Dr. Narayan reflects about his life in India while feeling nostalgic for his native Lucknow. It's so true, as he says, "There is so much we leave behind as we move forward." Perhaps moving on and driving past would necessarily entail leaving behind someone or something."In "Barren Bahadur," a goat occupies a place between humans and leaves us in awe as we observe a relationship between human and animal. Cruelty, fear, and death are overcome by the light of love and kindness. In "Scent," the author recounts Mr. Avinash Sharan's life, exposing the enigmatic and dark sides of human nature. It demonstrates how crucial it is to understand a woman's desires, passions, and heart in order to build a happy and fulfilling marriage. The author once again explores the sides of human behaviour in "The Mirage," where we meet Niti, whose happiness is elusive due to love and lechery, in contrast to Atul, who is full of life and finds satisfaction in the little things.Everyone has a unique definition of what makes them happy, and that is what makes us human.Another narrative, "Walls," introduces us to Raj Kumar, a man who was released from prison after serving his prison term only to discover how much the world, people, and family have changed. Raj Kumar feels uncomfortable outside while those prison walls look familiar and comforting to him.In the story "Shadow", we witness a lot of politics and human traits in those with positions, with the individuals' characteristic being revealed. Goodness and honesty face numerous challenges in life. Some stories leave us sad and melancholy, but regardless of the tone of the ending, we feel satisfied that we have read a good story."House" is one such story that takes us to the horror and shock of the displacement of a family leaving their house due to unrest. Naina remembers her old house, which she left, and that still haunts her, wanting her to visit it.The author has saved the best for last."The Light of Love," the title story, puts light on modern-day love, where Pritha, the female protagonist, takes no shame in living and loving on her terms. She reminds us of Kunti from the Mahabharat, giving the impression that Kunti is still present in today's society—albeit on her own terms.Overall,I enjoyed the story collection so much. I will definitely recommend this book.
