Love this phone BUT read this if you are transferring a service plan from another Tracfone
I’ve used Galaxy Tracfones for forever and I love them. I just bought this phone to replace my Galaxy A42 which was still working great but was discontinued & no longer supported for updates. I love the new A54. However, I ran into an issue that would have been nice to know ahead of time. I’m not complaining, just trying to let people know what might happen if you are trying to move your service from your old Tracfone to the new one. I had almost a year’s worth of a service plan left on my old phone to transfer over & it has always been really easy to do that. You can still do it - but depending on how old your Tracfone is, you can’t do it without calling a customer service number. Apparently, Tracfone was sold last year (2024?) & that must have something to do with it. When the new phone arrived, the instructions for activating it show a service provider called STRAIGHTTALK rather than TRACFONE. Following the instructions, you can go online to the StraightTalk website and begin the activation process (keeping your old number) but all of the prompts are for setting up new service and buying a new plan, with no path to transfer your old plan to the new phone. So, I went to the Tracfone website (where I have an account) and tried the activation/transfer process there. After putting in all of the phone info, I got a reply that the new phone is not compatible with the Tracfone network. I finally gave up & called the customer service number for StraightTalk and an absolutely wonderful customer service person (named April) worked with me to get everything transferred over. My new phone is working great. The description of the phone says it’s locked for Tracfone, and it is. But transferring my existing plan wasn’t something I was able to do without calling StraightTalk customer service.

great phone and a pretty great price
This is a review of the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G smartphone, locked to Tracfone. Why did I get a new cellphone? The one I had been using, a Samsung Galaxy A20, worked perfectly well. But I had had it for 3 years and, well, you know, I got the itch. Also, I was aware of some limitations of the A20. It was starting to feel slow. Sometimes I ran out of memory. The camera was so-so. The screen was hard to read outdoors. And I couldn't get further Android upgrades. Now, I should describe my usage style. I almost never use mobile data, so mobile speed is a low priority. Most of the time I'm within reach of WiFi. I don't make or receive many calls or texts. I also don't take many pictures or videos. I don't use social media. One thing I have done is put over 300 CDs on a micro SD card.To scratch my itch, I started looking for a modestly priced replacement. To me, modestly priced meant under $200. I was able to buy my Tracfone-locked A54 on Amazon for $200 during a price dip.Feature-wise, I wanted a few things relative to the A20:- a newer Android version and the ability to get further upgrades- a faster processor- more memory- better cameras- 5G capability- a brighter AMOLED screen- a micro SD slotThe A54 ticked all the boxes. It has noticably snappier performance than the A20. The screen is brighter, and I can read it even in bright sunlight. Since I bought the A54 in March, the software has already upgraded to Android 14, One UI 6.1. The photos are better, with more detail and dynamic range. The fingerprint reader on the front works very well. (I don't use face recognition.) The battery easily lasts a couple of days.Transferring everything from my A20 to my new A54 was easy with Samsung Smartswitch.Negatives:- it's slightly bigger and slightly heavier than the A20.- I really wish the power button was on a different edge from the volume buttons. I often find myself hitting the wrong button, like volume-down when I want to turn off the screen, or power when I want to change the volume.I am really happy with the Samsung A54, and it is noticably better than the A20. I definitely recommend it.

Great Phone
I paid about $300.00 for the phone a great deal. I have been a Tracfone customer for over 20 years and have never paid much over $200.00 for a year of service unlimited Talk & Text w/ 10 gb data. I have saved thousands in that 20 years.

Great No Frills Phone
The phone does everything I need it to do, and seems very durable for a smartphone without a metal midframe. The only time i have noticed it get slow or laggy was right after rebooting to apply an update. While it is finishing up for ~30 seconds or so it can be noticeably slow. The screen is great, and my favorite feature is the underscreen fingerprint reader. The battery life is reasonable, but not spectacular. I can get 2 days of normal use or ~1 day of heavy used on a single charge of the battery. The biggest down sides is the lack of wireless charging, the non-metal midframe, and visual voicemail does not seem to be working correctly.

get ready for hours on the line with support
This is NOT a Tracfone phone. It is a Straight Talk phone that is "compatible" with Tracfone. It took over 6 hours on the phone with Tracfone support to get this to work. While doing so they LOST all the time I had saved and I had to purchase more to make it usable, lost over 80 GB of data credit and my unlimited plan that I had just renewed. If you like wasting your time trying to get this to work or maybe you will have better luck. The phone works a lot better than my S7 but that should be expected.

Good phone but Samsung forced updates are irritating
Great phone. Takes good pictures. Reliable and Tracfone (now owned by Verizon) is reliable. That being said, Samsung updates chronically install a bunch of "games" that I don't want and then have to delete them. I wish I had an app that would disable the Samsung updates or at least, have a choice NOT to install the worthless games that Samsung foists on its users during an update.
