Do you have to have internet to view normal chamels

No. The Internet just turns it into a smart TV to watch catch up TV like iplayer. You can still watch normal TV in the same way as you would on any other TV.

Has anyone purchased this tv is it worth buying ?

I think it is. It is good value for money. The pictures are crisp, it has a gaming mode with very little latency, it has a good selection of apps in the app store. I've got it running for over 2 years now. My only issue is that once in a while (every two months or so) it no longer responds to the remote and the TV needs a manual reboot (unplug it). I'm not blaming the TV for that but the fact that I have installed apps outside the app store.
