Osprey Sojourn Porter 30L Backpack Review – Plus, Fitting an ROG G22CH Mini PC Inside
I’ve been using the Osprey Sojourn Porter 30L for a few months now, its been hiking with me, been to Taiwan, Australia, Japan and Philippines, and I have to say—it’s a solid travel backpack with a great balance of structure, storage, and comfort. It’s designed more for travel than everyday carry, but it still works surprisingly well for a variety of uses. The backpack feels sturdy, has plenty of compression straps, and carries comfortably even when loaded up. Build & Comfort The material feels tough and durable, which is great if you’re carrying expensive gear inside. The shoulder straps and hip belt are well-padded, and the design allows for a snug fit when adjusted properly. The zippers are solid, and the clamshell opening makes packing and accessing stuff super easy. Storage & Organization For a 30L pack, it’s surprisingly spacious. The main compartment is roomy, and the side compression straps help keep everything compact. The front organization pocket is great for small essentials like cables, chargers, or a notebook. There's also a dedicated laptop compartment that fits a large laptop without issues. Fitting the ASUS ROG G22CH Mini PC Inside Now, here’s the interesting part—I was able to fit my ROG G22CH mini PC inside! This was a bit of an after thought because I was actually going to return the PC after my 2 week trip, but it actually fits and worked better than expected (So I'm keeping it :P). The main compartment is deep enough to fit the G22CH lying flat. The internal compression straps help keep it secured so it doesn’t shift around. There’s enough extra space to pack cables, a power brick, and a keyboard if needed. The padded structure of the backpack gives some protection, though I’d still be cautious when carrying fragile electronics. If you’re traveling with a gaming PC but don’t want to lug around a huge case, this backpack makes it doable. The fit isn’t ultra-snug, but it’s stable enough for safe transport if handled carefully. --- Final Thoughts If you need a compact yet spacious travel backpack that can even carry something as odd as a mini PC, the Osprey Sojourn Porter 30L is a great choice. It’s well-built, comfortable, and versatile. Whether you’re packing for a trip, carrying work essentials, or—even better—lugging around a compact gaming rig, this bag holds up well.

Amazing!!!!
I love this bag for travel. It works as a carry-on if not over packed. It can carry everything clothes, laptop/tablet, chargers, toiletries. Good hidden pockets for money or AirTag. You can attach the daypack so you only have to carry one bag. Backpack straps are comfortable and hip belt works great when need and tucks away when not needed.

4 stars and a half. ALMOST perfect. Lacks bottle holder and waterproof capability.
I love how versatile this bag is. It is accepted as a personal item in the airport (took 4 flights last week and it's been fine each time). You can compact the content with the external straps. It has just enough organization capabilities without being "too much". It allows to pack enough for a weekend. It feels super sturdy and the zippers look like they won't fail me. I like how you can fold in the external straps, for an easy slide below the seat. Everything seems adjustable, which is not always needed but always nice to have. It's comfortable. All it lacks is an external bottle holder and being waterproof. And due to all the extra straps, it's not the best looking bag. My wife even told me it's ugly. But she doesn't appreciate

Excellent backpack - a little different than others
This backpack is probably different from what you're used to. It does exactly what it says it will do and it seems to be extremely well made. This is an excellent travel backpack. I was getting ready to travel for about a month. My old backpack is worn out and has too many outside accessible areas where people could easily get into it or steal items out of it. This one is more buttoned up. It did very well on my trip. Pockets/sections: it has 3 main pocket areas and a pockets inside one section, and a smaller pocket on the top which is inside the main section. (Probably not describing this well.) All the areas are easy to access. I hesitate to say the storage is surprisingly large, because 30L is 30L. But it seems to hold a lot of stuff. My favorite things: the straps stow away! This is fantastic. When you get on a plane and want to put this under a seat (ugh - airplane floors are disgusting) or in the overhead you get pack up all the straps. It's a little fiddly to get them in and out, but this is minor. It's about 20 seconds to store them and 5-10 seconds to get them out. This is a HUGE feature for me. You can store the shoulder straps and the waist strap separately, so you don't need to get out both. This is just fantastic. The laptop/document slot at the very back of the backpack is excellent. it securely and safely holds a laptop, note books, or other items in a thin compartment. I could not be happier with this feature. The two larger pockets/sections are nice and can be filled up with whatever you want. I mostly used these for clothes and toiletries. There is a small zippered pocket on top for items commonly needed items. I used this for my passport, toothbrush, and other stuff I needed to access frequently. The zipper has a security loop so that when it's zipped closed the zipper won't accidentally open and it makes it a little more challenging for somebody to get into it. This is a minor but nice feature. Great attention to detail. The clamshell straps across the front of the pack allow you to compress is and save some space. This is especially helpful when it's full of clothes and you're getting on a plane. It seems to do this fine without putting too much pressure on the laptop area. The front is essentially a clamshell with flaps coming around the front and straps to compress the backpack. The only negative is that you need to undo this straps to get into it. I was able to get what I needed from the laptop pocket and the small top pocket without loosening or unclipping the clamshell straps. Note that as you load it up it can get very fat on your back and that you'll be bumping into things and people with it if you're not careful.

Great amount of storage, versatility, and security
I bought this pack for a multi-week work trip which involved travel to multiple European countries. It fits a pretty good amount of cargo and expands and compacts well. Also, the zippers and the ability to somewhat secure them make me feel pretty good about not being pickpocketed. Having fallen victim to pickpockets before, I really appreciate that there’s essentially no way that someone can open any of the compartments without me noticing. It fits my 16” MacBook Pro pretty well. The protection for laptops seems adequate but is not quite up to par with my Ogio bag that I use daily while commuting to work. The bag is on the bigger side but not ridiculously big. It doesn’t tuck under a plane seat very well but will never be an issue in an overhead compartment. The ability to tuck the straps away and use it as a duffel is nice. I don’t use the waist straps but they are there if that’s your preference. All in all I’m very happy with the purchase. It wasn’t cheap but it’s perfect for my use case: traveling lightly without a checked bag. Also, it doesn’t explicitly mention that you can strap it to a carry on suitcase but I was able to use it as such: upper handle of the suitcase through the handle of my carry on and I use the lower adjustable buckle to secure the lower are of the back to the lower area of the carry on handle.

Kitty Grandma approved
Really nice pack that is just the right size for this grandma. I pack light and I can fit two weeks for summer train travel in Europe. The bag fits above your seat on the train so no worries of your suitcase disappearing. Yes it's a thing. A regular suitcase with wheels has to be parked in the luggage area near the train door which is out of view. Train stops and there went your bag. Travel safe and remember not to let anyone close to you in a train station.

Great size, comfortable to wear.
Great product! Easy to use, lots of space, and fits easily into overhead airline bin. It's also comfortable to wear even when fully packed.

Awesome Backpack!
This backpack is even better than I expected! It’s a high quality backpack due to its strong material and many places to store items. It will definitely hold lots of items & keep them organized. It has little things on the side to keep the zippers in place so no one can open them without you noticing. It’s a nice color and comfortable to wear. I’m excited to use this on my upcoming trips. I recommend this bag!
