Grandson loved it

The addition of this metal detector mining truck to my grandson's growing truck fleet is perfect. In addition to the unique look of the truck with its round cement-style mining backend, the capability of the truck to explore and find buried treasures adds immensely to its joy.Young children love vehicles and digging. This brings both elements to bear in a well-designed toy. Yet this is not just a toy. It helps to teach young children to explore and ask "what about" questions.As long as it holds up to a youngster's rough handling, I expect this will be used extensively, and eventually passed along to others.

I love this toy! It is so much fun, it takes a game that kids already enjoy playing, and just adds an additional level of fun to it. Kids already love collecting rocks, but if your a parent like me, you’re less than thrilled when you find a collection of dirty rocks in your home. This allows my kids to mine their rocks, and clean them before bringing them into our home. This is a lot more fun for everyone as I’m not having to nag them and spoil their fun. I would recommend looking at the dimensions of this truck, in my head when we ordered it, it was just bigger, so I was a bit taken back by the size of it. It is by no means is small, I was just picturing like a oversized Tonka truck. The size makes it much easier to store though. The Bucket that you place the rocks into is ideal for smooth river style rocks, pebble or gravel. My father-in-law has a piece of farm property that my kids love to visit and with a tank. The rocks at the tank are not ideal for this toy. They’re pond style, round, and bulky. This would also be great at the beach for cleaning small/medium size shells. Honestly, I love this toy, it’s a lot of fun, I would highly recommend it.

You may think this toy a gimmick. I'm not sure your kids will view it that way. There's just enough that's real about this toy to make it pretty cool.First, the electric metal detector, while utterly rudimentary and limited, does work. Put a chunk of metal in the dirt and it will beep.Second, the tumbler does work as well. It's not a rock tumbler as you and I think of one, but it turns, its barrel has slots in it to allow dirt to wash out and there is a funnel that allows water into the tumbler to help clean rocks. It's not a rock tumbler but it is a rock cleaner.The shovels and water tank are ancillary to the main functions described above.A fun toy in many ways.

Gave this truck to my 4-year old nephew as a birthday gift. He loves trucks and is really into the metal detector included with this one. We also found it interesting to use around the house to see what objects would trigger the metal detector, which was a fun STEM twist.
