Q: Is this a self priming pump meant for inground pools?

Yes it is. You can program it to turn off and auto restart during your preferred times of day. Once set you no longer need to worry about manual intervention. Depending upon your plumbing diameter, you may not get much water flow at lower speed settings and water features might not function unless the settings are at the higher levels. In any event, set it and forget it until you backwash

Q: Can 1.65hp model be run at the highest speed for 8 hours?

You certainly can. I run my unit at 100% for 16 hours a day. I drop it to 70% for the 8 hour cycle. While that does not take full advantage of the variable speed energy savings, I found the lower speeds did not move enough water in my pool for water features such as a spa waterfall. I use to have a 2HP motor so losing the power has a negative impact for me. The lower power also impacted the skimmer intake for surface water cleaning of debris. It’s springtime so it needs to work harder now to get the pool clean. Summer maybe a different story for adjusting the settings. Hope that helps

Q: What are the six power level settings?

0, 40%, 45%, 50%, 70%, 80%, 100%. There are 3 interval periods that you can program with any of these percentage settings

Q: What size pipe is it fitted for?

It came with an adapter that you can use to transition from 1-1/2” pipe to the 2” connections on the pump I believe. I have 1-1/2” pipe and the adapter made it easy to connect to the pump as the openings were larger than my pipe size. Hope this helps.
