I intend to use this for aerating my compost bin and performs this much easier than forking the entire bin weekly.I was originally concerned by its length and thought that I should have ordered a longer one, however as a longer one means that the auger width would be bigger, I think that would be too wide. The reason being that long pieces of grass easily twist around the blades and I think that if I used a wider auger, it could possibly tangle more of the garden waste reducing its effectiveness.Overall, I thought good quality and value for money. If it helps in producing good compost, then it will pay for itself.

Wear gloves so you don't get friction burns like I did. Performed the job I bought it for well. I used this with a hammer drill and pulsed it. It is best used with a side arm on the drill otherwise the drill will spin in your hands when it bites. I used this on soil that was very compacted to turn it over. Just make sure you only fit the hexed part of the shaft into the drill. Turned a big job into a few hours of work. I am happy with the results I got.

This is a great tool for planting bulbs. Takes a bit of practice. Sick the bit into the ground and then stop it going deeper but keep it spinning, to break up the soil. Then stop spinning and pull the bit up. You should be left with a nice old. Plant your bulb then cover with soil.

Item is perfect

We have a front garden with lots of small stones on the surface to suppress weeds. This is a considerable problem when attempting to plant new plants, hence my desire for this auger. It made getting new plants in a doddle, but best to wear eye protection, as stuff flies everywhere when drilling.

If you have compacted soil you need to loosen it before using this bit, othewise it will just go in 2 inches and then make the soil even harder. Daresay it's great for non-compacted soil as it's well made and solid but not till you've loosened things up.

I bought the 5x80 size and the quality was terrible.No where in the description did it say it was in two parts. You had to screw them together but as soon as you put the drill in reverse the parts unscrew from each other. The hex drill bit on the end on the extension was almost non existent.Then the screwed together sections stripped and the top would just spin not turning the spiral section.I started to use just the part with the spiral as it has a drill hex too. It lasted 4 uses before the hex that was badly welded on sheared off. I was just using it in clay. It also bent slightly in the process.

No more spending time trying to dig through hard ground this attachment for the drill does it so quickly churning the soil for you. Easy to attach to drill and easy to use strong wearing and will last a lifetime.
