Place the bowl with the hot water around 30cm away from your nose and inhale the steam continuously. Stop if irritation of the nose or discomfort occurs. This method helps against cold and flu. You can substitute oils by using energizing oils during the day and relaxing ones at night. As Room Freshener: Follow the steps above, hot water in a bowl with ten drops of oil and leave in a room. Make sure to use fewer drops of oil if it is high in sensitivity. You can also employ an aromatherapy diffuser or lamp scent ring. General Household Freshening: For use as a general household freshener, little drops of oil in your laundry wash, your drains, your trash can, the vacuum bag cleaner, or even on a tissue to be placed in drawers will leave your home freshly scented and cool all day long. Insect Repellent: Some essential oils also serve as a natural repellent for insects. Sprinkling a few drops of these oils on a tissue and leaving it where insects are notice will drive the insects away. When using these oils, be careful of fragile surfaces to prevent scarring by these oils. Aromatherapy Massage: For aromatherapy massage, mix 20 drops of essential oils with 30ml of carrier oils like 'Skin is You' Sweet Almond oil or Jojoba oil and massage into your skin or your partner skin, keeping it away from the eyes and genital areas. Diluting essential oils before using it on the skin to avoid irritation and burning. Also, make sure you follow the instructions attached to any essential oils of your choice. Bath: To use in the tub, add 5 - 7 drops of essential oil preferably mixed with 30ml of carrier oil. Add the mixture to your bath water and stir well before entering the tub.
