Yes it folds, and yes it works, but it's not very sturdy or easy to clean.

I really like my morning coffee. Actually I NEED my morning coffee. I know there are travel coffee pots, but when I head out for a weekend show or craft fair I pack as light as I possibly can. This filter holder folds FLAT. It takes up almost no room at all, and neither do the paper filters that fit inside it. Along with some ground coffee and I’m set for the four days that I’ll be away from home. This is the perfect travel filter holder.

Theres not much I can complain about this for only $8.99. At this price, it's all metal and reasonably sturdy, but I don't like how easy to bend that the metal plates are. They aren't just going to bend in your hands by accident, but I can see them getting bent out of shape by sitting on it accidentally, It also doesn't quite fold 100% flat. I might be interested in paying a couple bucks more if the plates were just a touch thicker.It's a bit big too, it can easily fit over a small mug or a larger carafe if your making coffee for a group with its wide feet. The hinges more or less swivel freely, so it won't hold it's shape unless it's sitting flat on a mug. Water also seemed to drip through faster than other pour overs I own, perhaps the hinged sides and large opening on the bottom let air and water flow though faster? The faster speed may be good for making larger batches quickly during a camping trip, though may be problematic if you prefer a slower extraction for single servings. My cone filters fit just fine too, despite the squared shape. It looks like it can easily handle larger and smaller cone filters, depending on how much coffee your making. It appears to have bumps for keeping the filters from sticking to the sides, but pre-rinsing the filter just made it cling around them so they don't seem to do a good job of that. Id rather the water drip through more grinds rather than out and against the side of the dripper prematurely, so I don't mind that.

Simple portable and lightweight filter holder. Fits V60 filters perfect. Got this to take camping and bike packing so I don’t have to worry about breaking my Hario or dragging around that extra weight. Since it’s stainless it shouldn’t impart any taste but I’ll update if that’s the case
