UPDATE: SPECK Replaced my road-damaged case!
UPDATE: I reached out to SPECK, and they actually warranty this case. So, if you're one of the many who have taken a chance on this and everything's fine, you're in the clear. But if something fails, rest assured this company stands behind their product—a rare thing these days. When I first reviewed this case, I focused on its function, style, and protection. In the beginning, that's what mattered most because you assume it will keep performing well. Sadly, that wasn't the case here.I've always liked SPECK; I raised both my kids with their iGuy iPad holders—best purchase ever, by the way. But while the iGuy is made of bouncy foam, this MacBook case is hard plastic, and the difference shows. My MacBook lives indoors and only shuffles between my home office, the couch, and occasionally, a padded briefcase for trips to dance recitals, etc.Right away, the bottom developed two hairline cracks, even though I always work with a pillow on my lap. Then the top started to spider out from the corner. Initially, I thought, "Maybe it saved my laptop from damage I didn't notice," but there's nowhere it could've taken a hit, except maybe when placing it on my wooden desk or tucking it into its padded briefcase compartment. It's more rigid and less flexible than I'd like, and those clean, elegant lines? Well, they're not so elegant anymore. My MacBook now looks a bit worn down and not so snazzy—all within just a few months. When the cracks go all the way through, I'll be on the hunt for something new. But for now, I'll give SPECK their due—they stand by their name and their products too.

Cracks easily
It cracked within a month of use. I keep it in a padded case and it still cracked. I did not drop it. Not worth the $50 i paid for the pink version.

Perfect case for macbook
I purchased this after getting a new MacBook Air this year. I am not the type to raw dog a MacBook without some kind of protection. This case is great and worth the money. The quality is fantastic and it is on the thinner side which does not make the MacBook thicker. This will definitely protect your MacBook at an average fall of about 3 feet.

Sturdy Case
Just bought a new MacBook Air and needed a protective shell. This case fit perfect! In addition, it feels thicker than ones I have seen and stores and sturdy. Happy with my purchase!

Decent but Fragile
Fits my MacBook fine, but seems prone to cracking. Still works and seems to protect the device well.

JUNK!
This item has cracked twice on me, do not purchase this item, the warranty is not valid when you buy it on AMAZON.

Went on in seconds.
The Speck SmartShell MacBook Air 15 Inch (2023) Case is thin and snaps on in seconds. It’s not ultra thin in my view, but that’s just a personal opinion. Overall, it does add some thickest to the MacBook Air. Not much but something and one of the highlights of this particular type of MacBook is how thin it is. The cut outs are aligned to use the ports. Over it seems like it will do an ok job of keeping the computer free of wear and tear to the body. Unlike a phone case, it’s not going to do much to protect it in case of a drop, but then it doesn’t claim to either. Once on, it does give aluminum case computer a cheaper plastic feel. That may seem obvious as you are literally putting a plastic case over the metal case, but something to keep in mind. It’s good and does what it says it will do. As for durability, I’m not sure. Again, unlike my iPhone case which is more rubbery feeling in that the material has some give to it, this is more of a hard plastic.
