Very Useful Camping Tool
I owned this machete for about a year. I bring it with me for camping and over night trips in the country. It proofed to be a very useful tool. It has excellent quality for four main functions:- used to clear the camp site before setting up the tent. I can remove any sharp objects on the ground that can potentiallly damage the tent or injure people.- used to cut fire woods, branches, or similar objects.- used to move/adjust the burning charcoals/woods, etc in the grill or fire ring.- used for defense against wild animals (racoons, cats, etc)Of course, you can also use it as a knife if it is clean and sharp enough, but I bring a small knife with me for those chores. It has 1095 steel with 1/8 inch thickness and 12 inch long blade; a big strong knife for big jobs. Overall it is a very good deal for the money.

Looks and feels pretty good. The handle???
I just received my camper knife today. First impression, pretty good tool. However, I am not thrilled with the handle. I own two other Onterio knives. I have an SP1 and an SP2. I wish the handle of this Camper knife was made from the same material as the handles of the SP 1 and SP2. This handle looks and feels a bit cheap. However, I have not used it yet, so I really can't talk it down too much. The edge will need to be worked on a bit, but that's no big deal. The size is perfect, the blade is thick and tough enough to be super sturdy, but I don't see it as being too heavy to wield around for a while. Knife feels good in the hand. I have big hands and the handle is plenty big, with a bit of room (should be able to fit a gloved hand in it). Can't wait to put this thing to work. If it performs like my other Onterio knives, it will be a handy tool that will last for many years. I will keep an eye on the handle though... For the money. this thing looks legit.

Quite versatile product. Would recommend to anyone looking for good machete.
Bought this product because it resembles the butterfly knives used in Wing Chun martial arts. There are really flimsy training models available, yet few that are both sturdy and functional. These can actually be used for training and camping! The blade came fairly sharp, (not razor edged) which is nice considering many of the machetes that I have purchased from other companies were dull on arrival. It took little effort to put a better edge on these and so far I'm pleased with how the OKC holds an edge. Look forward to see how they re-sharpen. The handle seems well made and the handguard is quite generous in size. Can't find anything negative about the product. Except I'm not crazy about th sheath. I'ts ok, better than many really.

super dull
I had to spend an hour getting a useable edge when i got it the tip was completely rounded and the blade couldnt even cut cardboard. I expected more from ontario. It is sad a $5 dollar machete from walmart came with a better edge and a sheath.

Heavy Duty
The blade is about 1/8" thick, thicker than a normal machete and it doesn't bend easily. This is great little jungle knife. You have to buy the sheath separate and it comes dull, but those are the only negatives.

Could be better
It wasn't much money, so I don't think it will be worth the time and money to return it. There is a noticeable warp in the blade. A waste of money. I always thought that Ontario Knife made better quality products than this. Would not recommend.

Great machete
This machete is well made and durable. I had to sharpen it just a little but now it's ready to go. I like the compact size.

Overall it is a great machete for its size.
The machete was money well spent. However, it did not come all that sharp out of the box. For me it was not too difficult to sharpen up and it seems to holds its edge quite well. It is a good idea to wear gloves when using this tool because it does slide a little out of my hands. The D-shaped handle does prevent the tool from sliding completely out of the hands. But, the back part of the handle does get uncomfortable after a few minutes of use. I would recommend this machete to anyone that wants to have a lot of copy power in a relatively small package.
