Why does the sound drop constantly?

I haven't experienced anything like that. It might be the source you're using for output.

I’m no electronic wizard, i have a sharp 40”, not a smart tv but has the hdmi connections in back. will this be compatible to my tv.

It only has optical or USB on it. But double check your TV because most tvs, smart or not have am optical port. It's a little square one.
