little induction cooktop makes an awesome bearing heater.
If anybody is looking for a cost-effective really amazing bearing heater pick up this induction cooktop. It Heats large bearings like a champ and for little bearings you can make a gigantic steel washer to go over it with the little bearing in the middle. Beware it does a great job and I mean great so your bearings are going to be ready within seconds so be ready to deal with a hot bearing when you set it on the plate you have no time to prep.

Good choice for a small RV
Fries fast, boiling and cooking with water, not so fast. But water takes a lot of energy to boil. You just have to plan it out and use the minimum of water. The temperature control could be better but ok. Works well on a small 500 watt inverter system.

Purchased to use with a solar generator
We purchased this item because it is smaller and wouldn't use up too much power but is added to our collection of items we can use when we lose electricity during a storm by plugging it into our solar generator.

I bought the wrong item
I don’t want to give this a bad rating but also would like to share my experience. I bought this to keep a tea pot in my craft room since I spend so much time in there. I was hoping that it would keep it at a good temp to release steam and humidify as well as keep my tea water hot. However 500w is a lot to be running all the time for 5-6 hrs a day and cost too much to operate for my purposes. So great plate for cooking a meal but not for my teapot.

Works as it should within the parameters it has given
This is a small unit meant to be used in RVs, small apartments, NOT your everyday cooking utensil. It is a very neat little unit which does not require a large footprint. PLUS!It would have been a better test had I been able to turn up either of my 2 stainless steel 1 qt saucepans. I stored them somewhere 'handy' HAH! a few months ago when I rearranged my kitchen, so now I couldn't put my hands on them...in spite of the fact that I saw them recently while I was looking for something else that I relegated to a less convenient place (since I don't use them that often ... sigh). So this large open skillet was the only other suitable induction compatible cooking surface I could find. It is way larger than the cooktop but even with that small contact area it had brought the water to beginning to bubble in about 2 minutes and a full boil over the heated surface in about 6 minutes. This is with an open pan and a 60 degree kitchen. I think that's a pretty good job all things considered.Do you want this unit in place of a regular stand alone unit? NO, but if you need something in a small apartment to heat cans of soup or cook your own small soups and stews, fry an egg, etc., this will do the job very well. It LOOKS like a quality tool as well. I've seen cheap portable cooktops that definitely look cheap. This does not look poorly made. Actually, just opening the box and taking it out I was impressed with the quality because I was expecting much less given previous shopping experiences with this sort of cooktop. It's also not a bad price point for it's size and function.

Update:
It will boil water when turned up to 600 watts; takes about 15 to 20 minutes for 4 to 5 cups of water. When I plug it into my 1000 watt solar generator, that wattage and time-frame burns about 30% to 35% battery. All in all, it does what I want, boils water on roadtrips and camping trips. No need for gas, easy clean up.
