PetSafe Piddle Place, Indoors Pet Loo, Hygienic

Brought this as have 2 small dogs. The younger puppy/dog kept pulling the green fake grass off the base unit and eventually chewed the thing to bits and had to throw away. Would of been better if there were clips to hold this in place so couldn’t just take off so easily. Quite expensive for what it is even though got it on offer it’s still pricey. The drain system is a good idea and works.

The 'PetSafe Piddle Place, Indoors Pet Loo, Hygienic' is a - really surprisingly large, I was shocked! - astroturf mat with plastic tray, designed for dogs to use as an indoor toilet. It comes with a built in lid, which is great for keeping it in storage, and the product has a tap feature on the side so that you can drain away liquid waste easily. The astroturf mat is soft and comfortable to stand on, although I was surprised to see quite how short the 'grass' is - much shorter than on similar products we have tried. The product is easy to clean - simply scoop off anything solid and flush it, and you can rinse the mat and tray off either outside with a hose or indeed in the shower/bath.In general, dogs take a bit of getting used to using such things, in my experience, but this is an excellent product for anyone who lives in a flat, for example, as it is hygienic and convenient.

Although this seemed like a nice idea in principle, in practice we weren't impressed by this at all. There was conflicting information regarding what should be contained in the box, we did not receive a sachet of the bio-enzyme concentrate needed for basic set up, and the set is not stand alone - in addition to the Bio concentrate you also need a Bio+ turf Treatment spray to refresh the fake turf mat. The box we received contained just the 'Piddle place', its lid, and the fake turf surface. I think at the price point it should come with at least one complete set of maintenance chemicals.The pet toilet is quite large and a bit unwieldy to carry round and empty, as it has to be carried flat to avoid leaks/spills. The plastic its made from is rather poorer in quality than I'd have expected at the price point, with several rough edges. The fake turf is more of a loose, nest-style rubbery mat, that according to the supplied leaflet is suitable for machine washing (although no washing directions are given - I concluded that to be on the safe side this needs to be washed on a cold setting). There are quite a lot of gaps in the surface of this mesh, and smaller dog claws can slip and get stuck in this surface. I was not a fan of having to disentangle our mini dachshund from this. The system is relatively easy to drain, thanks to an inbuilt tap.There are no dog size recommendations on the product itself, or on the product description page. But when offered to me through Vine, it was indicated that this was suitable for dogs up to 35lb in weight (the imperial measurements presumably being due to the company's US origins). We gave up on this, finding it a bit of an unwieldy space hog, that's awkward to store when not in use.

I really wanted to like this. Anything to replace poo bags and puppy pads is very appealing.Unfortunately the Piddle Place fails on many levels.Firstly, it takes up a LOT of room. This thing is not indiscrete. I can put a puppy pad behind the tv but this takes up the space of 2 puppy pads. In a small room it dominates and you certainly can't pout out in an avarage bathroom or utility room- not what I want from a dog potty!Secondly, it's very heavy and cumbersome. To empty it you need to pick it up and take it to the nearest drain but there are no appropriately placed handles to make it easy.Thirdly, an unused puppy pad can be whisked away if you have sensitive visitors or want it out of sight. This couldn't be whisked anywhere!A disapointing fail.

i feel this is either a love or hate product really and for some dog owners it will be a godsend especially those living in flats etc for times when they cant take the dog out.for us i think we will continue with traditional puppy pads and training . it is a large item which will take up alot of space which if you have a good sized hall or conservatory etc would probably be fine but for an ordinary house this takes up a lot of space and is clearly visible which i didnt like at all. there are extra products to buy with this to keep it clean and smelling good so despite the already high cost of the piddle place there are ongoing costs too so take that into account when buying.it is easy to set up and certainly easy to empty when needed. the grass is machine washable which makes life easier but for us it still seemed like a lot of work to encourage a dog to go inside. Our dogs didnt seem to like it at all, sniffed , gave me the look and walked away . by the end of day two one had started using it to sleep on as he loves to sleep on the lawn but none used it to go . think carefully before buying this as its quite an investment in the short and long term and will need space. however if you need an indoor trained pet this is simple and easy to empty and clean.
