Versatility is the key
For me this is the ideal power source. A rechargeable battery pack that can double as a connection to an alternative power source like a car or a power pack. Versatility more than makes up for the smaller capacity. And much easier to use than the larger rechargeable alternatives.

It works, but I suspect that it MAY have slighly less charge capacity compared to the original
This weighs a little less than the original battery, which had the same 1800mah capacity rating. This appears to have the same size & shape as the original. Somehow, they managed to squeeze a charging circuit along with the batteries into the same space that the original used for just the batteries. The space needed for the charge system & the reduced weight makes me suspect that this battery pack May have slightly less actual capacity compared to the original. That being said, this is just a suspicion. I did not do side by side discharge tests. This battery does last a full day of average use for me. The USB-C charging feature is what led me to pay 3/4 of the cost of a radio with a battery pack for just this battery pack. Charging from dead flat with the USB-C port, it took 2 hours & 10 minutes for the green light to come on, indicating a full battery pack. With a dead flat battery, the radio will operate from power being fed to the USB-C port on the battery. 7.5 volts left in the battery is pretty darn low, regardless of what the bar graph on the radio says. At 7.4 volts, the radio still operates, but the time you have left is VERY short before the radio shuts off. I am very happy that I can charge this in the car with no cradle. If I need another battery for this radio, I would probably get this one again. The larger capacity ones with the USB charger are bigger & heavier than I want. If I needed 2 days of run time capacity, I might get the larger one or I might get a second one like this to swap out.

Less Capacity than original
Works great. Charges well. It does add static to the radio if you try to use it while charging.Be aware: While this is rated as the same capacity as the original, it runs about half as long as the original battery. For me this isn't really an issue - the added convenience of being able to charge from any USB source makes up for the reduced runtime.

Just plain useful
Capacity is totally fine for a weekend, and the convenience of charging it via almost anything is too good to pass up

Finally, I'm free of that Baofeng charging cradle!
I use my Baofeng UV5RX3 as a casual carry radio, something to take camping, fishing, etc. Situations where I want communications but don't want to risk a $450 Yaesu or the like. Being tiny, absurdly inexpensive and covering three 2m/1.25m/70cm make it ideal for this purpose and if I drop it in the lake, I'm not heartbroken. This is why I jumped at a USB C charged battery when it became available, so I'm no longer dependent on the charging cradle and can just use the same cable that I use with my phone. So the battery arrived overnight and within two hours it was fully charged. I slid it onto my radio and it fit precisely and snugly but when I turned the rig on...nothing but a blank screen. Odd. I popped the original BL-5 battery on and it worked fine, but not with this one. I measured the voltage at the terminals and it was just over 8 volts, but clearly it wasn't making good contact. So, I submitted a request to exchange it for another. The very next afternoon (thank you Amazon) the replacement arrived. Again, I charged it up over USB and this one works just fine with my radio. This is a great product and a game changer for my intended use of the radio.

Finally can charge on the go!
Surprisingly radio manufacturers have been somewhat slow to make their products USB rechargeable. But they are finally getting the hint.I have a suspicion that this battery doesn’t last quite as long as the original. Just seems like I didn’t get the same amount of time out of it. But I’m still giving it 5 stars because the ability to charge in the field without the bulky cradle is an easy trade for what might be 10% less mAh overall. Your assessment of that may be different but for me this is exactly what I need.
