OptiMate O100 SAE USB Charger 2400mA

Easy to plug in to your (already pre-installed) SAE socket. Connected to the bar-risers on the motorcycle, is small enough to not get in the way of any equipment already on the bike and the supplied connectors are a welcome addition (mini and micro USB cables as well as an extension cable).Good sealing on the cable connections makes the device water resistant although a massive downpour may get the better of it.I use an iphone 5s (lightning port) with the ultimate add-ons hard case for maps and navigation when needed and the supplied cables do not fit through the gap in the case as I had hoped to just be able to use a micro usb to lightning port converter. I have had to use a standard lightning port cable and fit a small piece of rubber tubing around the usb end so it forms a seal with the female port and wont let water in. A little bit of a botch job but it seems to do the trick.Overall a lovely and easy to use piece of kit, I just wish apple would conform to standard an use micro usb like everyone else out there... oh well, cant have it both ways!

Bought for emergency use only, in case I have bike problem and my phone's out of juice, so may never need it.Bit pricey for what it is, but it's neat and compact and easy to carry around.

Does the job as described.

This is an excellent product and comes with a long lead to charge USB devices. There's also a 'free cable' with it which connects to the battery and can be used with both the USB charging lead and Optimate chargers. This free lead can be permanently connected to the bike and has a weather-proof cover on the open end but (here goes...) sadly the USB charging lead doesn't have a similar cover at the corresponding SAE end, hence only 4 stars. There is a cover on the USB socket though. While I'm sure the USB to battery lead provides a good seal when connected, it does mean that the open end is at the mercy of the elements and for that reason I don't now want to risk connecting this USB lead permanently to my bike (that's what I'd intended). For the sake of an extra end cover (see picture of Optimate O1 which actually includes 3 of these in different colours) this would've been a 5 star product and had I known this before purchase I'd have bought the stubby USB charger instead (O100). With regard to charging though, the charger holds power for a while after the bike has been switched off and cuts out below a certain level so it doesn't keep draining the battery which is a good thing. UPDATE - I've decided to return this and buy the O100 charger instead - there's no point in carrying a pocket full of cable around as well as the charger.

I already had an Optimate battery charger cable on my bike for normal battery charging/maintenance so using it to charge my phone using this little device plugged into it is so simple its a no brainer!A great bit of kit...

Compact and easy to store on my motorcycle. Once attached to the Optimate lead it is 'live' - this is easy to see as it lights up - and hence drawing power so you do not leave it connected until needed. The cable (extension) and two adaptors ( Micro and Mini USBs) provided with it are good quality.It will not charge my Samsung Galaxy Ace - but that is the phones design and apart from specific Samsung products almost nothing will charge it.

First use it was acting a bit funny - battery on my phone was draining visibly, i could see the percentages dropping. After reading around I now plug this in after the bike is running and its been working a treat - i now keep this under my seat with a lightning cable all the time for when its needed.
