Looking to open a coffee shop?? Here's a great place to start!
This is a solid book for introducing someone to opening any small business, but in particular a coffee shop. It's an all encompassing read covering such nuances as acquiring funding to how to properly decorate to both attract customers and ensure durability of the furniture. I never truly considered how much effort goes into opening a small business, particularly something I thought would be simple like a trendy coffee shop. I figured it was just a matter of making good coffee and creating a welcoming atmosphere, but it's clear after reading this that it's so much more than that. Things like the need to find not only good equipment but possibly finding good, used equipment to save money just never would have crossed my mind prior to reading this book and that's just one of literally hundreds of good ideas that are contained within. This book will give you a great starts on your road to a successful small business, so don't pass it up.

Interesting Read!
I never really considered opening a coffee shop, but for some reason this book title caught my eye. I'm always interested in small business opportunities. It gave me some insight from a fellow small business owner and I think that I have found a nugget or two that I can apply to my own small business. I read some of the negative reviews and I didn't see the same issues that were described.

It is full af bad grammar and sentences that do not make sense
This book is poorly written. It is full af bad grammar and sentences that do not make sense. It also just goes over the most obvious things about starting a coffee shop without going into any details. I would not recommend this book for the serious person wanting to start a coffee shop.

One of reasons we chose this book
Great book for anyone looking to start a coffee shop business. Information is creative, and insightful. Sections about price strategy/marketing and promotion were things I learned thanks to this book. Easy and entertaining read. Could not put it down; read it in one day (153 pages).Thank you Rick for the motivation to make our dream become a reality.David in [email protected]

Probably not the book your looking for if you actually want to start a coffee shop
The editing on this book is terrible. The photos are just google image searched, cut and pasted, sometimes boot really relevant to the subject. There are many typos and sentences that are grammatically confusing. It feels as though it was written through one of those online services that help you ghost write a book. All the good reviews of this book appear to be written by bots or paid reviewers. There is relevant information in here, that you could easily find on the web, and the clumsy writting trips it up. I don't believe Rick Robinson exists, rather this is just a bunch of info scraped from the web on the topic of owning a coffee shop.

Also, the book really conveys in a very organized manner the important steps and actions that are required in starting a coffee business. Nothing is spared but much is provided in terms of informing the reading on how to become the next coffee shop owner. Coffee drinkers have been around for centuries and with all the different types of specialty drinks a coffee shop can make these days, there will continue to be coffee drinkers. So much detail is provided in the book and I love how the author is passionate about informing the reader how beneficial the location of the coffee shop is to the success of the business. It is really important to have a coffee shop that is accessible to people traveling on foot and for people traveling by car. This book covers so much detail in a way that it is easy to read and absorb. A coffee shop can be therapeutic for people from the great aroma smells of the coffee down to the calming decor of the establishment. Knowing the nuts and bolts of what it takes to open a coffee shop is so important and this book does exactly that. This book informs the reader about how to be creative with the decor of the coffee shop, as well, as making the business represent the uniqueness of who you are. Yes, starting up your own coffee shop involves dedication, determination, and staying focus on the end results while tackling the necessary steps that are involved. 5 Star
I work in the downtown area. In just last two years I have seen two different coffee shops opening up. But never gave it much thought until I went to both of them during lunch and after work. They both were packed full! I even joked with a coworker that we need to quit our job and open up a coffee shop. Both of these shops sell all types of coffee and other drinks but more importantly, they both sell a quick bite to eat. When I saw this book, my old curiosity came back and wanted to read it, I am glad I did. The author made a great effort explaining the process of opening such shops. I think with little help from a friend or two (or even family members), anyone can easily open one of these shops and have a successful business.
