High Crimes [DVD]

Not sure how I seem to have missed this one! As a fan of Judd and Freeman this was a pleasant surprise. Both are on top form in a murder/thriller that hardly ever lets up in the action and plot development. Judd seeks to defend and free her husband (Caviesel) on trial for a war crime for which he is innocent. Freeman is the alcoholice millitary lawyer who helps her. This is areal old fashioned (2002) thriller where nothing is perhaps what it seems and our heroine is up against bullying big shot military at it's most devious. TWists and turns and good performences all round make this a well worthy watch. No swearing, the violence iis there but not too graphic (12 cert). I thoroughly enjoyed the film. A good transfer (bars top and bottom) good sound and subtitles with extras not seen by me. NOW This is where I get a bit naughty, but one thing about a very few Amazon reviewers is the desire to give full plot details including spoilers, and the ending without even yhe warning "Spoilers" before writing them. So... if you haven't seen the film avoid the review by...E.Gonzalez Sorry sir. No offence intended, but it is a bit thoughtless.

Good story, and any film - movie with Morgan Freeman is usually interesting and believable. Cliff

Haven't had the chance to watch this yet, but do intend to during the Christmas period and am sure I will enjoy this - haven't yet seen a Morgan Freeman film that I didn't enjoy. Thank you for the swift delivery and good packaging.

Good value for money and prompt delivery service

If this had been from a true story it would have made 5 star for me. The story of the people shot was awful and I know that kind of thing still happens as we speak. The twists and turns were good. I understand why other reviewers have said it would have been good to have more in the court room but as there are stories away from the courtroom it would have gone on forever. It was an amazing story so perhaps this could have been more than it was? I don't know. There was sadness and romance. I think Judd is a good actress, I've always liked her but I was disappointed to see her playing a similar role that she's played before. A bit like watching 'Double Jeopardy' again. Morgan Freeman - I can never find fault in him. He's brilliant. I hated the end part when her husband ties her up. I didn't get the husband really. For goodness sake, the guy was a soldier. Sometime in his life he would have killed someone. So fair enough, him admitting would have been enough. Why did they have to make him turn into a monster? Caviezel is one of my favourite actors. That was the biggest 'downer' for me in this film. Otherwise, worth a watch all who like action thrillers, and Freeman, Judd and Caviezel.

Cabaziel plays a seemingly content ex-soldier living well off the coattails of his successful defence lawyer wife Judd. But one romantic evening, a SWAT team and a buried past catch up with our lead couple. A slick thriller with solid performances from the lead cast, with Freeman providing solid support both in his acting performance and to Judd in the courtroom. One exposed lie reveals the next, and there’s are some genuinely dramatic and tragic moments that have the audience rooting for light to be shone into the darkness, however deep, and for the truth to surface. The less-expected twists go some way to alleviate the predictable and sometimes well worn suspense devices. Some inexplicable action scenes (attack your adversary with a pick-up truck pumping an oil slick out the back?) actually add some originality. A worthy watch on a winter’s night.

Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman have made several films together, I have watched all of them more than once but never cease to be thrilled at how good they are acting together, each are fab actors in their own right and when either one is in a film you know it will be good :) 5 stars

Erstklassiger Thriller, hochkarätig besetzt mit Ashley Judd und Morgan Freeman. Der Film lässt einen lange im Unklaren, lockt ständig auf die falsche Fährte. Immer wenn man glaubt das Spiel durchschaut zu haben, liegt man auch schon wieder falsch. Der Film spielt mit dem Zuschauer. Das Ende ebenso verblüffend weil so nicht erwartet. 100 % Weiterempfehlung !!! Lohnt auf jeden Fall.

With all leads knocking it out, this turned out to be a really well crafted thriller.
