In 1962 BMW came out with its ground breaking 'NEW CLASS' design in the type 1500 with the 2000 line being added several years later. The type 2002 was the first turbocharged car to be put into mass production and was seen as a near perfect car. The E12 shown here was produced between 1972 and 1981 and was the first generation of the BMW 5 series starting with the 520 and 520i to replace the New Class designs and shortly after the 525 with straight six engines. The E12 M535i is seen as the origin of the BMW M5. The E12 design was replaced in 1981 by the E28. This t-shirt shows the E12 on a speeding background with the word GUTS.
