Previously cooked not a raw dry seaweed
This seaweed does not smell, taste neither had a texture like a real seaweed. After soaking it taste like a shredded carton and it crumbles. It's a shame that there is no a picture of the back side packaging and consumers cannot learn more before buying. It's stated that Arame seaweed was previously cooked for five hours and then sliced and dried. Especially for raw foodish to be aware. There is the picture below I posted. I guess this product will be perfect for those who does not like seaweed because it's tasteless, if I had it with my eyes close I would never guess what I eat. Seaweed supposed to smell like an ocean ( it's different from fish smell) have a slightly salty taste and have a soft jellylike texture after soaking. On top of it it's not organic and overpriced.

Although arame is a species of kelp that is now farmed in South Korean waters, it once grew naturally only in Japanese waters
I would have given this product 5 stars if it were priced more competitively against the 2 best-selling seaweeds, namely, nori and wakame. Of the 5 best-selling species of kelp (kombu, arame, mozuku, limu moui, and hijiki), kombu is in oversupply and sells at the lowest price per ounce.Together with those 5 kelp species, wakame and mekabu are also classified as "brown" seaweeds. However, wakame and mekabu, which is just the lower part of the wakame stalk, are not classified as kelps. "Brown" seaweeds are classified as chromalveolates; they are not plants. Meanwhile, nori (laver), ogo (limu), and dulse are classified as "red" seaweeds. "Red" seaweeds are classified as plants; they are not chromalveolates. This arame seaweed product is cut into soft, easy-to-chew strips. This arame seaweed product does not contain any delicious but deadly sea salt. Unlike most Atlantic Ocean seaweed products, this arame seaweed product does not have any tiny whole shells (mollusks) attached to it. Overall, this arame seaweed product is a delicious, salt-free treat.

Where's it coming from?
I LOVE arame seaweed...and though there may not be an Atlantic equivalent, I have to wonder if this lovely seaweed is now radioactive. It's a great Pacific seaweed, but I really think Edenfoods should consider growing it in the Atlantic until the Fukushima radiation threat is finally over. (250,000 years), I guess) I LOVE seaweed, but I DON'T like Cesium 137.

Delicious, nutritious
Like most Eden products, good stuff! I love arame, hiziki, wakame, kombu, for cooking and health.Arame is easy to cook and IMO delicious. This Eden arame is good. I saute an onion, add the arame and water, and cook. I appreciate the convenience of ordering this from Eden through Amazon. Call it seaweed or a "sea vegetable," this is a welcome addition to the cupboard of any natural food kitchen.

Not my flavor. Tastes like a seaweed-linguine hybrid, not squishy enough
I give it 5 stars because there's nothing wrong with the product, I just personally prefer wakame.Arame has a harder, grainy feel. The flavor is also less mild than wakame,Wakame is soft, squooshy, mild, spongey, thin and flat.Arame is harder, thicker, grainy, more of a flavor to it (very light bitter taste). Almost doesn't taste like seaweed.

Worth the price!
I know this stuff is kind of expensive, but it is by far our favorite brand of arame. Doesn't have a lot of seasonings or additives like the other brands available. A bag also lasts us a long time.
