Use a step drill bit
Used a step drill bit to around 18-20 mm for the hole. Used it on my Rivian R1T with an OBD port USB for a power source. Works great since Rivian decided to omit the under dash power outlet.

So far so good. I have not hooked it up yet so I cannot say on the durability, but I am sure it will be fine.

Very clean looking. Used it for stereo install so I would not just have a USB wire hanging out of my dashboard to plug devices into stereo.
