Childhood to adult

It explains how children develop curiosity and guidance from others or themselves when you don't have the right parents to teach you. The word narcissistic is when a child is lacking what parents did not give them, from childhood, from a 1 month old and up.

Undecided

I was under the impression that this was an actual book, but it's comic book style. Not worth the money spent. 😞

Clear and precise

It is a good book that handles the concepts neatly and carefully . All the best. It's not easy to finish books related to this topic that easily.

Easy access to the subject

Easy access to the subject, the pictures where helpful and made the content easy to digest. I would recommend this as a first step.

A decent introduction

This is a surprisingly lucid and easy to follow introduction to what I imagine is a vast and complex discipline. I was intrigued by psychoanalysis, as aside from a well-known therapeutic technique, it also features heavily in social theory. While I have no interest in the therapy side, I was most definitely interested in expanding my social theoretical grounding, and this seemed liked a good book to start. I very much enjoy this series, although some of the texts can be hit or miss. This particular edition -- and keep in mind I'm approaching from the perspective of a psychoanalytic layman -- is a success. Understandably it has an overwhelming focus on the work of Freud, the Godfather of psychoanalysis, but it also delves into the different theories of Klein, Jung and others. After reading I feel I have a very rough sketch of psychoanalysis as social theory, particularly as I was able to contrast what I was reading with my grounding in other fields of social theory (particularly post-structuralism). I cannot say whether this would be a bit too much for someone who has no grounding whatsoever in social theory. As a final note: some of the illustrations are - erm - a bit graphic, so reading it on a packed train and seeing page after page of giant phalluses was a source of amusement. If drawings of genitalia offends you, I'd advise you to give this a miss.
