SLAPMASTER! MATH GAME

This is a cool little card game. Idea is that if an incorrect math problem is shown on the card, the next player takes a turn and flips the next card from the pile. If that problem is incorrect, same sequence. Once a card is flipped with a correct math problem, the first person to slap the card wins the round and the last person to slap the card or doesn't at all, loses a 'life' out of 3 life. Last one standing wins the game.Comes with 18 'life' cards, so if you're teaching a very young one, you can handicap yourself significantly to give them a really large advantage and more time to think the about the problems. I give myself 1 'life' and my child 10 'life' so as to give them a really large buffer to make mistakes. You can also do something like, for every problem answered (slapped) correctly, give them back 1 life. It's a card game, house rules after all.If you have a younger child, I suggest pulling the harder double digit cards from the deck initially to let them focus on simpler math problems in the beginning. It'll pare the deck down by about half, but seems to have enough correct problem cards to make it still fun for the kid and lends to very teachable moments without overwhelming them. Sprinkle in some harder ones to give them some challenge.In all, really neat game with an element of interactivity that you can creative with.

I got this deck of math cards based on the unique premise to identify correct vs incorrect math equations. I thought it would be a great way to sharpen my daughter’s math and reasoning skills. Admittedly she is 6 years old although the recommended age is 8 and older. Now I can see why, because it was confusing for her to see so many incorrect math equations and since she only knows the most basic addition and subtraction equations (such as 5+1). When she learns addition and subtraction in kindergarten and first grade, I think this game will become a lot more fun and interesting. However this game can be adapted for player skill level and you can create your own family rules.I docked one star because it contains far more incorrect equations than correct ones, which could cause confusion and frustration. One way to adapt would be to remove some incorrect equation cards, until kids become more comfortable with recognizing correct questions and are ready to try identifying more incorrect ones.

My children and I have enjoyed playing this game on and off for a couple of months now and we all still enjoy it. As long players are comfortable with subtraction and addition up to 20, they'll have no problem participating, and the game rewards quick thinking and reaction times. Games are quick (no more than 5 minutes) though don't be surprised if you get asked "can we play again?" as soon as a round is over! For the $10 asking price this game is a winner.

The game itself was fun and we had fun playing it (8F). There were a few issues though. I found the cards hard to shuffle by hand and even with my little card shuffler. I also think the ratio of wrong to correct cards is off. So we changed up the rules a bit to compensate. On the plus side after playing a few times you could see the improvement as she got faster and faster at identifying right/wrong answers.

My 8 year old (3rd grade), me, and her dad play this together. Dad & I started off so slow and realize we're rusty. As we went, we had to start slowing down to avoid steam rolling the child, but it was a toss up. sometimes we'd take it easy and still win, others we would be trying and just get too caught up and make mistakes and lose. It's fun! but it's definitely "school" type fun. If it were played in school, kids might really like it. Probably not the favorite at-home game for many kids, but my daughter likes playing it when we suggest it.

The game is a set of cards with wrong math problems on them, that a group of several kids are supposed to add or subtract the numbers and see when it is wrong. Then they know the right answer, and put down another card. There are a small number of right answer cards that are shuffled into the deck, and when there is a right answer, then kids are supposed to put down a different card and see who gets it to confirm it's right first. There's three life cards that are used when they compete to notice the right answer cards. A wrong move costs a life card. It's a game that might last like ten minutes if it's played straight through, and every card has to be examined for every kid.This might need a parent to explain the rules before it can be played. And then kids might have to play it a few times to really get into adding and subtracting numbers, so they can recognize the right answer for every card. Then the slapping cards down might be fun to get right. I think kids would have to practice it to get into the game, so it's more of a family game then a game to leave in a classroom. Kids in a classroom don't always know how to read the rules on it, which are printed on a rules card in the box.The cards themselves are durable and are nicely made, and they can be stored in the box it comes in.

I got this for my grandkids to play together as they learn and it's a very unique way to teach math problems. At first, I was confused when I opened it and saw a lot of the equations had the wrong answer but after properly reading the instructions I see that this is part of the objective of this fast-paced game that will help kids to develop fast thinking. Depending on the age of the children an adult may have to help them a few times but I think this is a wonderful way to help kids enjoy math.
