I used this as an extension for a set of fairy lights recently obtained. The extension cable has easily attached. It screwed in to the transformer well and squashed the rubber washer forming a watertight connection.The lights worked fine plugged in through the extension. The thickness of the sheath looked similar to the cable thickness of the light string, although one cannot be sure what is underneath.

Although the socket appears to be the same, unfortunately this product does not fit my existing two pin G40 string lights as the terminal connector appears slightly too small. I would suggest that before purchase that the buyer checks the measurements to the nearest millimetre as this is obviously not a universal fitment. The product does appear to be well made though.
