makes the perfect ukulele thumb pick
These are my favorite felt picks for Baritone ukulele. They sound great for finger picking (see my instructions below for making a thumb pick with these), but as with any felt pick, they are not great for strumming patterns. The D'Addario felt picks are firmer and thinner than most felt picks, creating a bright and projecting sound. Out of the box, there can be some variance in brightness between the two sides of the pick and also from pick to pick. This difference in brightness between the two sides is attributed to the slope of the cut at the tip, which can be filed with sandpaper to dial in the sound. I also like to bend these back and forth to soften them up a bit. Some might see the inconsistency in tone between picks/sides as a negative, but I think it's actually cool as it allows you to find just the right sound for your ukulele. I recommend buying several so you can experiment.Another advantage of the thinner pick size is that it is easy to make a custom felt thumb pick using these. If you have a Dunlop XL size thumb pick, cut off half of the pick part, and then you can then insert the D'Addario felt pick inside under the thumb for the perfect ukulele thumb pick (see photo).

Nice for playing quietly
Very comfortable to grip and give a nice medium tone. Just right. 2nd purchase. (Gave some to others to try). Just what i was looking for.

How to Prepare These Felt Picks for Your Own Style
A lot of reviewers don’t seem to understand that these felt picks are impregnated with glue to strengthen them. This means they don’t really bend, except a bit at the cutout. They can be used right out of the envelope, when the edges are square (see photo, the bottom pick). They are louder that way. Remember that it is felt, so there are lots of tiny hairs sticking out, and they are glue-impregnated, so if you put your ear near the strings when picking, you will hear a slight rasping sound, and you may also feel it when you play. That will also slow down your picking a bit.Get an Emory board—fingernail file—and file a bevel onto each side of the end. (See photo, the upper pick). Then use a fingernail buffing file to make that smoother and take off the fuzz you’ve created with the Emory board. This takes a couple minutes of work. Now when you play, you will hear or feel very little rasp. The picking will sound much softer and smoother, and your picking will be faster. The tone will be rounder and fuller than with the pick untouched, but also not as loud. Much more uke tone with less pick noise.I myself prefer a StringJoy Orange Jazz Pick, regular size. It has a very sharp, fast attack, and I also use it on my very expensive guitars for that reason. I also like the Fred Kelly Standard Delrin smooth pick, 0.66mm, which comes in a ten pack, though the ads here don’t mention that. But I use picks to cut through a crowd. I prefer a fingerpicking style when playing jazz uke.

Helpful for a new musician
I am just learning to play the ukulele. I was finding it a bit awkward to hold a pick, but finger-picking was making my fingers sore. So these picks seemed to be worth trying.I like the way the finger hole is beveled, to conform to the curve of a finger. The only issue I have is that they only come in white. Unfortunately, that means they will look dirty very quickly. Not a deal-breaker, but I don’t like them showing dirt so easily.

Not what I expected. Too hard for felt.
Very thick and hard. No flex. Like the grip though

Not too hard, not too soft. The little hole really helps.
I have tried a number of ukulele picks, and these are my favorite. Not too hard, not too soft. The little hole really helps me keep a grip on it while playing.
