Exceptional scientific calculator
Excellent calculator. Has a GCD button, and a fraction button that allows you to determine the MOD of 2 numbers that was very useful for RSA Algorithm calculations in a recent Information and Network Security exam. Highly recommend. Do remember to take off the plastic film that is placed over the battery and should be pulled from under the battery cover, otherwise the calculator will not to power up for long. Once I did that the calculator worked perfectly. Best calculator I own and great price.

Nice large display
This is a perfectly serviceable two-line-display school-level scientific calculator. Canon quality is in evidence throughout. The first line of the display is dot-matrix, while the second is a segment display. The font size in these display lines is the largest I've so far seen in a calculator of this type, so it may be a good choice for users with vision impairments. The calculator appears to do additive operations with 13 digits of precision and multiplicative operations with 16 digits of precision, which is common for calculators of this type. Percentage % is implemented as a postfix operator that divides it's operand by 100 and the operator does not act compoundly with additive operators to provide a surcharge/discount function as is common in non-scientific desktop calculators. Hence it also avoids the errors of similar kinds of calculators that I've tested that try to provide a surcharge/discount function but actually get the answer (horribly) wrong (see, e.g., my review of the Aurora AX-582).My only gripe with this Canon device is that it is pricey compared with other calculators of similar capabity, hence the 4-star overall rating.

Thought it was better
Has good range of functions but :Cannot do complex arithmetic and the rectangular to polar conversion functions are not as well laid out as on other calculators.Lacks quick way to convert a value to scientific notation.... necessary to go through modes for this ... should be one button like the ENG function.Lacks OCT BIN and HEX modes which i thought it had judging from the A, B, C, D buttons but these are just memory slots. If your use doesn't need these things then its fine but for such an advanced looking calculator its disappointing that it lacks these.I wish canon would make the F604 again .... perfect combination of functions and memories.**update**not as bad as i originally thought.... changed now to 4 stars.... manual is RUBBISH..... refers to examples that are not there... necessary to scour internet to find instructions on specific operations.Nice to have that upper line to verify the values entered are correct.
