The Politically Incorrect Guide to Climate Change (The Politically Incorrect Guides)

A Masterpiece of Research
This excellent book is basically comprised of two parts. In the first part (Ch. 1-10 & 12) the author debunks (by copious citations to scientific authorities) the populist allegations of “global warming”, and in particular any anthropogenic (i.e., “human-caused”) contribution thereto. In the second part (Ch. 11 & 13-20) the author reveals (mostly by citations to “climate advocates” themselves) the underlying political agenda and financial motivations of the “climate advocates”.As I see it, the agenda of the author (Marc Morano) is to inform the public about an important topic by providing them with important information which has essentially been previously withheld from them (for reasons that are apparent once one reads Chs. 13 20).This book is a masterpiece of research – Morano cites to a truly vast number of individuals in the scientific community in order to undermine the claims of the “climate advocates”, and to reveal their true motives. To his credit, Morano does not proceed from the position of trying to support a hypothesis, but rather from the position of debunking the hypothesis of the climate advocates (i.e., that global warming is caused by human activity). Morano is to be commended for refraining from hyperbole, sarcasm and personal attacks in his presentation – his only attacks are on the so-called “science” used by the climate advocates, as well as on the motivations of the climate advocates.A number of things become very clear from this book: (1) climate science is exceedingly complex, and it’s fair to say that no one really understands all of the variables that lead to climate change, let alone how they work and interact; (2) the case for “human-caused global warming” has clearly NOT been made by the climate advocates; and (3) the large amount of government money available to support the global-warming hypothesis has (and continues to) corrupt the scientific community in favor of this dubious hypothesis. What is also evident (from casual observation) is that, notwithstanding much recent evidence that “human-caused global warming” cannot be proven (e.g., the faulty “hockey-stick” temperature chart), the climate advocates (such as Al Gore, the UN IPCC and their minions) have done such a good job of brainwashing the public since the 1990’s that by now it’s virtually impossible to convince people that it was all just a big con job. It’s now time to reverse that trend, and reading this book is a good way to start. My only “complaint” (if you can call it that) about this book is that it’s not longer. Morano could have easily filled 200 pages of appendices with graphs, data and other science-based information in order to show that the “science” used by “climate advocates” is bunk. Perhaps he could be persuaded to issue a compendium to this wonderful book in order to provide some more science to show where and how the climate advocates got it wrong in their so-called “science”.People should care a great deal about debunking the “human-caused global warming” myth since maintaining the myth will cost them lots of money - money which could be used otherwise for truly meritorious purposes (such as addressing over-fishing and over-population).If you truly care about our planet, then buy copies of this book and give them to your friends and family (as have I). Once you see your winter heating bill double from $300 a month to $600 in order to replace natural gas with “wind energy”, you will find that $17 for a copy of this book (to put a halt to this nonsense) is a mere pittance. Let’s set the record straight, and free ourselves from the “human-caused global warming” myth.

Once on the fence regarding climate change
As an engineer I am not much different than a scientist. I was recently doing a lot of research to find factual data to understand if Climate Change is created by humans. Why my sudden drive to research this topic? Basically I have been forming a mistrust in what I read and listen to these days and it is getting worse daily due to the hysteria if you question a pro-climate change idea. One of the most famous lines I hear is that "All scientists agree that man made climate change exists..". I felt like I was being force fed information and if I questioned the headlines, then I am ridiculed. This attitude makes me want to learn more. This book, jam packed with solid references, made me a non-believer in climate change. In fact, I now believe that the man made climate change hysteria is one of the most significant scams ever concocted. The second question I asked was: Why would anyone even make up a story like this? What is the motive? What is to be gained? The answers to climate change questions like that and many more are found in this book. Every claim in the book is backed with solid references. I have an open mind and could be persuaded to be a believer in man made climate change - but me the data. So far I only get ridiculed when I speak with facts as a "crazy non-believer". Try looking on Amazon for books with supporting scientific data that supports Climate Change... Few and far between, and cost 10X as much and the numerous other books that provide scientific data similar to that supported in this book... Hmmm,, Interesting. And when you look in inside the other books it is pretty bleak with supporting scientific data references.

Providing plenty of details and quotes from top scientists, Morano shatters the climate change myth
I read a lot about global warming because I’m trying to figure out if I need to worry. Given the vast number of high-level scientists who doubt that man-made climate change is what the alarmists would have us believe, I am convinced that the science is not yet settled. However, with senior scientists on opposite sides of the table, I can’t seem to get a clear picture. And what’s worse is the theatrics that people use to influence public opinion. In “The Politically Incorrect Guide to Climate Change,” for example, Marc Morano sites a PBS story about Senator Timothy Wirth listening to testimony from NASA scientist James Hansen in 1988. Senator Wirth told PBS that to make the testimony more dramatic, they chose to hold the hearing on the day that weather experts told him would be the hottest that summer. Wirth said, “We called the Weather Bureau and found out what historically was the hottest day of the summer. Well, it was June 6th or June 9th or whatever it was. So we scheduled the hearing that day, and bingo, it was the hottest day on record in Washington….” But it gets even more manipulative, explains the senator who was trying to push the global warming agenda. “What we did is that we went in the night before and opened all the windows, I will admit, right, so that the air conditioning wasn’t working inside the room…. Jim Hansen was wiping his brow at the table at the hearing, at the witness table,” which was all fabricated to make people afraid the world was burning up. In other words, instead of using real data, they used real clever tricks. When reading about the sizzle instead of the steak, it becomes clear why scientists turn away from the opinions of the climate change advocates. For example, Morano notes, “In April 2014 Harvard professor Robert Stavins revealed his disgust with the UN IPCC process for which he was a lead author: ‘It has been an intense and exceptionally time-consuming process, which recently culminated in a grueling week . . . some 195 country delegations discussed, revised, and ultimately approved (line-by-line) the “Summary for Policymakers” (SPM) . . . the resulting document should probably be called the Summary by Policymakers, rather than the Summary for Policymakers.’ During one session, Stavins said he was one of only two IPCC authors present, surrounded by ‘45 or 50’ government officials. When I read this, I researched the claim that 97% of scientists believe that man-made climate change is real. This figure has been bandied around for years, but it turns out that it’s based on poor research. In fact, some of the research came from undergraduate term papers, and other studies included research of only the abstracts of scientific articles. That means that someone, probably someone looking to find a climate change point of view, just read the abstract of a paper and then marked if he felt the author believed in anthropogenic climate change. Once again, the alarmism has overtaken good science and makes me doubt the climate change agenda.Since bias overwhelms the presentation of the climate change story, I decided to try to check out original source documents. Morano writes, “Doesn’t this prove that CO2 is causing global warming through the greenhouse effect? No, the current warming period began about 1800 at the end of the little ice age, long before there was an appreciable increase of CO2.” I wanted to verify this issue from sources other than the author, so I went to NASA’s website, https://climate.nasa.gov/vital-signs/global-temperature/. The problem was that the historical temperature chart that they showed only began in 1880. Overall, it showed a small increase in “temperature anomaly” over that period, which would seem to correspond to the industrial revolution. However, from 1940 to around 1975, there was no appreciable increase, which would make one wonder why there was no increase for 35 years if, according to scientists, the increase in CO2 is directly responsible for global warming. More than that, though, I thought the study would be more interesting if we could see the data from before 1880, to see what the trend had been. That chart was not on the home page of the NASA site, so I looked at https://www.temperaturerecord.org/, which claims to get its data from “NASA's GLOBAL Land-Ocean Temperature Index,” and that site showed that the temperature has been increasing from the beginning of the 1800s, well before there was manmade carbon dioxide being pumped into the air. So there must have been another cause of warming, and perhaps whatever caused the warming then (not human beings creating fossil fuel emissions) is also responsible for warming today. So given the disingenuousness of the climate change supporters, should we worry? I’m inclined to side with physicist Freeman Dyson, a professor emeritus of physics at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University, a fellow of the American Physical Society, a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, and a fellow of the Royal Society of London, who has referred to climate models as “rubbish.” Morano quotes him as saying, “I have studied the climate models and I know what they can do. The models solve the equations of fluid dynamics, and they do a very good job of describing the fluid motions of the atmosphere and the oceans. They do a very poor job of describing the clouds, the dust, the chemistry, and the biology of fields and farms and forests.” Frankly, the climate is complicated, it’s not just that CO2 is poison and is going to destroy the climate. And even if someone believed that is true, he could turn to the prince of climate change himself, Al Gore. The problem is, though, Gore realizes that all of the economy-ruining changes that politicians propose (which ultimately give them more power) will only lead to symbolic gestures. “…During a 2017 Fox News interview with Chris Wallace, [Al Gore admitted] that the UN Paris pact is symbolic: WALLACE: “You would agree that even if all 195 nations, now 194, met their targets, it still wouldn’t solve the problem.” GORE: “That is correct. However, it sends a very powerful signal to business and industry and civil society, and countries around the world.”Send a signal? There seems to be no climate change problem, so sending a signal seems silly. And as always, it will be the poorest countries that suffer if the American and European elites decides that the third world cannot use fossil fuels to help them have light at night, warmth in the winter, and the doubling of life expectancy that we have all enjoyed.

A clear explanation of what has been going on.
As a scientist I was sceptical about C02 having anything to do with climate changes. This book confirms that I was correct. Well and clearly explaned with a list of all source material. No misinformation here or "they" would have sued/banned this book.

Very Easy to Read; Very Informative
I recommend this book very highly to anyone who is confused about this "Climate Change" hysteria that seems to be sweeping the globe these days, and to ordinary people like myself who do not have a scientific background and feel that they will never be able to understand the scientific details. Not so. The author of this book explains everything in a clear and understandable fashion and I found it very easy to read, just right for the lay person, even though the author has a scientific background himself.I have to say that the whole "doomsday scenario" causes me to be rather sceptical about all this orchestrated panic, as I have been on the planet long enough to remember the hysteria about the "looming New Ice Age" in the 70's that was at our doorstep and would very shortly destroy the planet and everything in it, and we would all either freeze to death or die of starvation, or both. For those too young to remember, it was a huge deal at the time, and we were constantly bombarded by this scenario. Well, we and the planet are all still here, but now we have the opposite scenario, and I hear all the same "crisis mode" narratives that I heard then.Plus, I like to read history, and I know that the planet has warmed up and cooled down, warmed up and cooled down all through the ages. Did you know that Britain - which in this present age is a rainy, wet, damp, basically cool climate for most of the year, was once a place where it was so warm that they cultivated grapes, and vineyards abounded? And during the time of King Henry VIII, and 400 years later in Queen Victoria's time, was so cold that they skated on the Thames, one of the deepest and widest rivers in Europe? It warms up, it cools down. Also, don't believe everything you hear or read from the media - they cannot really be trusted to give the true objective facts anymore; and it is always wise to be somewhat cynical about anything that is massively prosperous for those at the top of the ladder, many of whom are right now reaping their share of the multiplied millions that are available to push this agenda. There is a DVD called "The Great Global Warming Scandal" that is very helpful to watch. Its about 10 years old now, but still very informative on the subject. It is still available to buy; I bought it myself on Amazon just recently.
