I think this is possibly going to be a favourite series of the year.Diem Bellator is a healer working with the mortals in her city. When her mother goes missing, she is pulled into the world of the Descended, the children of the gods who colonised and rule her world. The characters are complex and interesting, I loved Diem as a main character. She is fiesty and stabby and flawed. All her feelings and thoughts are understandable given everything and the situations she is forced into. The plot was nicely paced. There are enough mysteries to keep you wondering, and the mmc is a swoony grumpy mf who definitely falls first.LUTHER! SETTING THE SCENE
I enjoyed this book, it had a steady rhythm and I can tell its building up for the next book, it sets the scene and makes u want to get to the end so you can read the second, which I believe will be even better and more thrilling!!I'd defo recommend this book to all those fantasy readers out there....GET IT🌶

Hunger Games meets Blood and Ash
Absolutely amazing, couldn't out it down.Strong female lead, lots of intrigue, great plot development with lots of breadcrumbs laid to lead you into it.

atmospheric page turner
Wonderful, rich world building but I’d have liked some more spaces to ruminate - there’s a pace to the action and the complex plot moved pretty fast. There’s a lot of characters and different powers - a chart would’ve been useful. The main character is relatable- conflicted, and driven by underlying anger.

If you like strong FMCs, funny quips and unique fantasy worlds - look no further!
As someone who reads a lot of fantasy books and get tricked into those described as “ones for Sarah J Maas fans”, I can honestly say this series is perhaps even better. It’s been a while since I found a fantasy book with such a unique world and well thought out and lovable characters - despite the fact there are a lot of them, they each had clear individual personalities and backgrounds.I genuinely laughed out loud at the witty quips in this book as well as tearing up at one particularly emotional point (I won’t spoil though). For once, the FMC is actually believable and not completely annoying by either being too much of a kind hearted pushover or such a big mouth that you start to question her survival instincts and how she has any friends. The glowing reviews for this series are all well deserved and I can’t wait for the 4th book.

It was good, worth reading
It was good but very slow burn. Whilst I liked the development of the main character, the build up was a bit too long.If you someone who loves more the plot and adventure, then you will definitely love it.
