Opened outside with gloves after reading other reviews about the horrible smell. I didn’t smell anything terrible when I took it out of the plastic wrap. I stuck it in the ground and brought my dogs over to it multiple times. Not once did they pee omit or near it. They hardly notice it and barely sniff it. It’s useless and a waste of money. I do not recommend this.

I opened the box (not the interior sealed bag) and was like “Whoa. That’s a smell”After reading other reviews I decided to go outdoors to fully open it. I was gagging. I was heaving. I thought this must be the end. I’m dying. Death by pee post. This smell is absolutely revolting. I managed to get an oven mitt to pick it up from where I dropped it, and get it stuck in the ground. I had to throw my oven mitt and the wrappings in the outdoor trash.I gave it a 5/5 because my pomeranian immediately started peeing in the general vicinity of it. He won’t pee ON it, but he pees within a couple feet of it. Definitely cut down on “walk around the yard looking for a good spot to pee” time.It also attracts all the neighborhood dogs, so there’s that.

Was very strong scent and strudy actually used a hammer to get it into the very hard dirt and it didn’t even make a scratchUnfortunately my dog pees everywhere but on this product so it was a total fail.Points for being a cute grass decoration now

I wish I could give it a zero but that’s not possible..The scent is very heavy and gross. It didn’t attract my dogs what so ever. My brother tripped over it and it snapped in half! What a waste a money!

I had read that with these kinds of devices you have more success with males dogs which I have a male dog so thought i'd give it a go.The first two days he sniffed it real good but it did NOT trigger a urine response from him. Now, days later he pays it absolutely no attention.So it's a nice idea but I think these things are very dog gender, breed and personality dependent as to if they'll work for you or not. At least they're not very expensive so if it doesn't work you're not out a whole lot of money.

It is a great concept but this thing smells very bad. I would not buy it again because it just doesn’t work. It’s a fun decor in your back yard

Super bummed that it didn’t work. I have three dogs and one of them is a puppy. The smell out the box is so strong! But it didn’t interest the dogs. The whole house smelled like the hydrant just from opening the box! It was smaller than I expected. I wish it worked.

I’ve had this product over a year! I have 3! They all still work! I have them posted at the 3 street signs at the beginning of my property and the corner. instead of dogs using my property as their potty point they still use these little hydrants! I was weed eating last week and I had to put one back together (the tops pop off - it’s the way they are) and I noticed they smell very loudly of dog urine that is what keeps the other dogs coming back to these little hydrants! I love them! I love even more not having little yellow spots in my yard.
