It works great!
Excellent for keeping that insulin pen cool while traveling. Once I get to my destination I put the inner pouch in the fridge (if available) and put the outer pouch where it will remind me to get the inner one out of the fridge.

Stay cool and safe—no ice packs or batteries needed
Bought this to safely store insulin during travel and hot weather. What I like• Keeps insulin cool for over 45 hours without ice or electricity• Just soak in water to activate—super easy and reusable• Compact size fits easily in a purse or carry-onWhat could be better• Doesn’t keep meds cold, just cool—won’t replace a fridge• Takes a while to dry out completely after useBottom line: A reliable, no-fuss cooling case for on-the-go insulin storage. Perfect for travelers or anyone on the move, but look at 4AllFamily Insulin Cooler if you need refrigerated temps.

Refresh every few days and you're golden!
I bought this product for my teenage type 1 diabetic son. He needed independence and this gives peace of mind. It does not leak! I read a review stating it leaks. After recharging with water and only while it's wet in the water their may be a very slight film on the water. It's likely from the gel beads, but to claim it leaks is ridiculous. It's much better to chatge every 2 to 3 days if you're going to use it continuously. My son often forgets to recharge with water and the beads get dried out if you do this. This little bag is amazing! It keeps 2 pens perfectly (unless you overcharge!) If you do overcharge be sure to put medication in with the lid on top sliding pen in with counterpart first. This way you don't have to try and get a lid out! This only happens that the fit is too tight if you leave in water too long. The learning curve isn't that hard. I'd recommend using a timer. Start with 2 minutes per side in cold water and continue flipping until product feels full. It will literally puff up! First time or after not using for a while takes longer to charge. Love this little thing! Now if only they made them specifically for epipens! Not to people who don't understand the concept os this bag, it keeps your medication at room temp! Once insulin is removed from fridge for use this is recommended! Nobody wants to put refrigerated insulin in their body! It can hurt/sting. Also remember it's perfectly safe to store your insulin at room temperature and use for 28 days! Some people write reviews complaining this product doesn't keep their child's insulin at 45 degrees. It seems they don't understand that's just when refrigerating for long term storage that u have a max temp of 46. Personally I keep our insulin in a seperate mini fridge and store around 40°. Recommend Temps are 36° to 46° F or between 2-8°C. That's for long term storage!!!This Frio wallet is for daily storage at room temperatures! Room temperature storage is between 59° to 86° F or 15° to 30°C . This keeps it perfectly in that sweet spot even when in the heat when used properly! Sweet spot being 20–25°C or 68–77°F! Incredible product.

Manufacturer study shows it only cools to 77°. Read on…
UPDATE ON MY REVIEW BELOW: I would encourage you to read this before you a buy this product.I called customer support manufacturer at Frio when I returned from my trip. They said that there was only one study done in testing this product. They put it in a temperature controlled container at 100° for 48 hours and the medicine stayed at approximately 77°. The manufacturer considers this “cool”.I have included a screenshot of their brochure when I received the product (added below in the picture). You’ll notice that it says at the very top “Keep your medication cool”. However, below at the first bulleted point, it says keep medication cool and safe (note the asterisks mark).Below, at the asterisks, you’ll notice it says medication must be maintained at his recommended safe temperature. They told me that most medications could be safely used at room temperature so it was within the parameters of their advertising.I don’t think that when a manufacture advertises that the medicine will arrive cool, that 77° is considered cool. I think the manufacture should be responsible for the loss that I incurred. Of course they disagree. My initial review:I purchased this item because I needed a way to keep my medication cool for a long trip and it seemed like the perfect solution. It advertises that it keeps medication “cool” for 45 hours.I flew from New Mexico to Budapest Hungary and when I arrived in Budapest less than 28 hours later, I pulled the medication out of the gel pack and found that it was almost warm. I called my physician and asked if my medication was safe to take and was told that it was not and to throw it all away. This left me in a terrible situation because not only did I throw away hundreds of dollars worth of medication, it left me without the medication I needed for a month long trip.If you want to rely on a product to keep your medication coool, do not purchase or rely this product.

hey this actually works
I don't know if I've just become immune to the constant stream of false advertising that is the result of the massive amount of poorly made product these days to the point where I'm surprised when stuff actually works as advertised, but I was actually impressed with this product. it works like they say it does. As long as it's exposed to air it'll keep your stuff cool, even when it's hot out. and it stays cool for days without having to "recharge" it in cold water for the few minutes that takes. The only draw back is that it's easy to leave in the water too long and over-inflate the gel top the poo9int where the pens/vials have too much of a tight fit, but you learn pretty quick how long is too long. I've been diabetic for 32 years and this is the best cooler/transport product i've owned. Get it.... you most likely won't be disappointed. By the frio at least anyway.
