Norma Jean And Marilyn [DVD]

Bought as a present for a couple of friends. Very well received.

I think dedicated fans of Marilyn will love this film, purely for the fact that you get to see what she was like, (according to certain sources) behind the scenes of her movies and also in her personnel life.Both actresses play Norma Jean/Marilyn perfectly, especially Mira Sorvino, who has created her just as we would imagine her to be. The only problem I had was that her weight stayed the same through out the film, when in truth in fluctuated up and down quite a bit. Although I wouldn't expect the actresses to gain and lose weight just for the part, it would have made her a bit more real.Throughout the film it gives you glimpses of all Marilyn's highlights in her career, and all her lows. At times it made me feel quite sad just seeing how lost she really was.I really enjoyed this film and feel that it's definitely worth having in your Marilyn Monroe collection. (If you have one that is!)

Excellent product and service.

Movie: Made by cable channel HBO, this is a good biopic but rather overlong at 139 mins. It uses a device where the roles of Norma Jean and Marilyn are played by different actresses to emphasise the transformation into the screen persona.DVD: Mediocre full screen print (as this was filmed for cable TV). Note that the Region 1 is a longer version than the Region 2 which has a much sharper widescreen anamorphic print, so it's not an easy choice for the buyer.

Not at all so very bad, if you don't care about the level of truthfulness of Monroe's biography. Of course, Monroe fans are disappointed, because of the negative image of Monroe, portrayed in this film. But some of it must be true, I'm sure.I think it an entertaining and occasionally moving film. Sorvino and Judd are very attractive, even better looking than the original, i.m.o.. The dialog between the two in the split personality scenes is very funny.And to me, the main message of this film is also clear. Hollywood is a snake pit with creepy, selfish people everywhere and Monroe, as a vulnerable and insecure young girl, was a victim of the film industry.

A difficult subject matter which, i suspect, never really considered the deeper issues, for example, depression and insecurity.

I bought this DVD for my girlfriend and she's just told me it doesn't work on my Xbox or any of the 3 DVD players I have in my house !!!!

This is a great movie. It's not without it's flaws however, for a start they dramatize things a bit and make Marilyn look like a nutter with split personalites in places - which has no evidence of truth to back it up. However this does make for some great viewing, the final scene in the bathroom where Norma Jeane tells Marilyn in the mirror that she has 'lost her mind' is especially emotional and gives you an insight into perhaps Monroe's last hours with us.More could have been done with the film in exhibiting some of Marilyn's more iconic images, the diamonds are a girls best friend iconic image and her most famous image in the white dress that blows up over the subway gate are given little screen time. Judd captures the essence of Marilyn far more than Sorvino, despite not having the trademark blonde hair and make up in her part of the film as Norma Jeane. Sorvino still shines however and picks up Marilyn's diction, vocalisation and mannerisms well - making for a great performance all round.The best part of the movie has to be the scene back stage at JFK's birthday celebrations where Monroe is getting ready and needs her hair done, it's almost like getting a peek into the past is very believable. If you're a Marilyn Monroe fan you will love this movie - highly recommended.

題名通り、マリリンモンローの数奇な生涯を画いた作品です。無名時代を表紙左の女優が演じ、整形して映画等で活躍し有名人を右の女優が演じています。有名なグラビア撮影シーンは圧巻でとても綺麗でした。整形して有名人なり活躍中に精神が弱り無名時代の自分の幻覚と会話するシーンが後半よく出ますが不思議な感覚陥ります。一人のヒロインの光と影をよく表現した作品です。
