Was in good shape.
Though the book was old, it was in good shape, and at a reasonable price.

Gives excellent insight to life aboard a submarine during WWII, and the technical challenges they faced.

History
I'm a peace time vet. I did my tour of active duty on a diesel sub 1979 to 1983. A cold war vet. A lot of what I did was what was learned during WW2. I'm a diesel mechanic, EN2

Couldn't Put It Down
Of all the books we've read on the U-boats, this is one of our faves. We really FELT it, as if we were right there, especially at the end. Without giving it away, it was VERY exciting and suspenseful. Couldn't put it down.

Not bad but not great
I've read lots of books about U Boats of WW2. This one is ok but there are much better ones.

Just the way I remembered it.
I read this book when I was 18. The introduction to the book stuck with me all of these years.

Well worth the read
Bloody good story and a win for the crew with the odds vastly stacked against them in some very desperate times

The time period this was taken from
I disliked the long periods between the actual patrols, otherwise it was a really good read.
