Way better than heat lamp
If my mom was still alive she would be excited about this heating pad. You know how many chickens she lost over the years because no temperature control over heat lamps. Either to hot or to cold. My chicks loved this heat pad. They cuddle and slept in it. Size was great for my 9 chickies. If I had a bigger group I would add another one so they have space and don't smother each other to gain warmth. Love the temperature control and timer.

Vey Suprised
Works GREAT for baby chicks. I'm not home much and heat lamps scare me. I have used this pad for 2 different groups and have had no issues. Works very well and to me seems much safer then some other options out there.

Not for chicks
Does not get as hot as I thought it would. Did not keep our chicks warm enough

matt warmer for chicken coop
I think my hen will enjoy staying toasty as she nests on top.

For baby chicks in the house.
I was thinking this would be a good alternative to the harsh chick lights that we usually use when we raise chicks in the house. What my experience has been is that it is not warm enough to keep the chicks warm on its own but they do like when I draped it over the edge of the box and they can all go huddle against it. I got a space heater to put in the room and the two things together seem to be working well. We also put a Silkie hen in with them (she is always a willing surrogate mom) and that was working ok before we got the space heater but I didn’t want to take the chance with 20 baby chicks. I would use the pad again, but not as a primary heat source.

Good for single use
I bought this last winter and only needed to use it for 2 nights in a row. Worked great! I wiped it off & put it back in its original box. It was stored with my other winter chicken supplies in a box in the basement. I pulled it out to use today and the controller sizzles due to electricity. It has a short! It wasn’t crimped in the box. There is no reason for the short. Such a waste of money!DO NOT BUY!!!

Exactly what I needed for baby chicks
This is perfect for baby chicks. The lining is easy to wipe off if there are any messes! If you need something small and not bulky for your animal needs this is it!!

Doesn't get that warm
Doesn't get that warm. Would not rely on this for outside birds. Even when using for as an inside brooder heat source it wasn't that sufficient, in my opinion. Dangerous for button quail or small chicks because they climb under it trying to get more warmth since even at the highest temp it's not that warm.
