Always A Must For The Pantry
I love having sliced pickled ginger on hand to have when I grab premade sushi at the grocery store as well as having it to add to a salad dressing in the summer time to pump up the intensity and freshness of flavor, and, to be be honest, I sometimes crave cracking into the jar and having a few bites just to enjoy the tingle on my tongue and the health benefits that come from adding ginger to your diet. While I wish these were a little less pricey, they are absolutely delicious and I would never NOT have a 2 pack on the pantry shelves in case I want to get adventurous with a recipe.

Give me my Ginger !
OK , I already had low sodium soy and wasabi , saw an article on making sushi at home , tired of the whole social distancing , mask-wearing , elbow-bumping thing so decided to give it a try . Bought the bamboo rollers and even went so far as getting gold-quality sushi rice . NO FISH ! I get it , I live in a rural area but please ! Did finally find some 'Sashimi Quality' frozen tuna steaks , but wanted some quality salmon to serve as well (like, choices) . Saw Atlantic Salmon Fillets , but look at a map : JAPAN IS IN THE PACIFIC ! Atlantic salmon is for salmon loaf , not sushi .So I see 'Copper River Salmon' in a circular . Limited availability in selected stores ? I'm not discriminating between Soho or King versus inferior pacific salmons . I don't care if it climbed the rigorous rapids of the middle branch so it has more healthy fat : I just want some !! But no, they are out of stock at the one store in the chain that is within 40 miles of me . Next week ? I guess the run is over . Back to the Ginger : So I have two bottles of pickled ginger and no hope of sushi in the near future , so I open one and take a bite . The clouds part , the veil is open , and I am suddenly in gastronomical Heaven . This stuff is great on a whole bunch of stuff , and even by itself . Maybe some day I'll have the proper sushi quality selection of fish , but I am very happy with this purchase in the meantime .

Flavor not as enjoyable as other brands
I had had pickled ginger only a few times when visiting sushi restaraunts, so I'm not even an amateur. I was visiting a local grocery store a while back and they had a stack of bottles near the entrance marked down and on an impulse, I picked one up. When I got it home, I tried a bite. It's always kind of shocking when you first taste this stuff; you think you've gotten into some floor cleaner or an old bottle of Jaegermeister. But then a few seconds later your insides go "Oh YEAH! Let's do some MORE!" and you keep nibbling. Well, I nibbled through a whole bottle of stuff before the day was over and my belly suffered a bit from it. But the next time I hit that store, I picked us some more. But then we moved and the new local groceries didn't carry such things. So I hit Amazon and bought this variety, based for the most part on price. Well, I got what I paid for. It's edible. If I was just using it for palette-cleansing it would be sufficient, but I wanted to enjoy its weirdness all on its own and for its own sake. But I couldn't. I finally managed to finish one bottle, but the other has been sitting in our fridge unopened for quite some time now. Sorry. I would not buy this brand again.
